  2. We has ours done last year. We used Dulwich Construction and theyDid a great job. My husband then fitted the under floor heating , tiled the floor and fitted the kitchen to keep the cost down...
  3. I was 39+8 when I had mine , but i as also having contractions..... It bloody hurt !!!!
  4. We are actually moving from London back to Sth Derbyshire so that we can be closer to our families. Mostly the choice is mine as I want my children to have memories of their time with grand parents and great grandparents. We all go on holiday once a year together, my parents and my husbands parents and my nana... I love spending time with my family and I can't wait to have them to babysit !!!! My parents and my husbands parents visit London on a regular basis which is great for the kids, but I think when we move back "home" our kids will have a much closer relationship with their cousins and grand parents which will be lovely
  5. Very normal. At around 6-8 weeks babies have a growth spurt and will feed alot. I remember my daughter and son being latched on nearly all day at this time. Sorry, in a hurry so don't have much time to write anymore. oopps, Just re read and saw that you don't think its a growth spurt .
  6. This is so funny, I shall mention this to Simon when he comes to collect our dogs tomorrow. And in the five years that we have used Lisa and Simon as dog walkers I have NEVER know Simon to be have either grey hair or a pony tail !!! Poor Simon.
  7. Definitely not Simon.... he walks our dogs for us and he goes to Crystal Palace now for most of his dog walking. Simon has very dark curly hair. He also doesn't use a black cab, he uses a silver car now.
  8. Dulwich Park Fairy, why don't you give Rob, AKA - dulwichdogman, a call. You can find him on here. He visited me last week as I had two dogs that just barked at everything. Not anymore, within the hour he had showed me how to take control and be the leader. Totally amazing.
  9. We have also just updated our washing machine with an LG.. It's FAB !!! I have really noticed a difference with the kids clothes coming out a lot cleaner, and my husband uses the steam mode quite a lot... My husband found ours on www.appliancedeals.co.uk
  10. We will hopefully be moving out of Dulwich and up to Derbyshire in the new year. We are wanting to rent out our house in W Dulwich and so I'm trying to gather as much information as possible about how best to go about renting the property out.. Has anyone had a good experience with letting through an agency or privately ?? Many thanks.
  11. Interesting to read all of your replies. My 2.5 year old daughter is slightly obsessed with dying and going to heaven at the moment, especially as Doodle the dog down the road has just passed away. I just explained that at times when animals are poorly or old and they can't make themselves better then they go for a very big sleep in heaven and when they stay asleep we call it dying... She seems happy with this at the moment and reminds me every time that we see a dog.... " That dogs not dying mummy, he's not old enough yet ".... She hasn't asked about people dying yet .... but as she's only just turned 2.5 i hope we have a while to go ......
  12. I have spoken to the lady and will turn up for a free class over the next few weeks... I also asked about bringing my little boy who is 15 months , his sister is 2.5 yrs. The teacher said that my youngest would be able to join in rather than trying to keep him restrained...As we are in West Dulwich I thought I might try the Beckenham class.
  13. Do any of you have children that attend Diddi Dance classes ? My daughter is very nearly 2.5 and just loves dancing and twirling around everywhere. I thought rather than just going down the ballet route she may enjoy this a lot more. Does it combine a mixture of dance styles, and do you think 2.5 is a good age for her to start ? Many thanks, Lisa.
  14. When I was a nanny looking for work in SE area I tried Abbeville nannies...
  15. My 1 year old is in his shorts and t shirt PJ's... in his 1 tog sleeping bag... But, the window is wide open and the fan is on as it's still reading 26 degrees in his room !!
  16. Thank you , will follow up on all your help.
  17. I wasn't sure which section to put this in.... Apologies if I'm in the wrong area . My husband is running the New York marathon in Nov of this year.He has already ran the London marathon twice, both times running for children's charities. This year he really wants to help/ sponsor a local family/ person who may need help in raising money either for treatment, medical equipment etc..... Neither of us are sure how to go about looking/finding out about this. Can anyone point us point us in the right direction ?? Many thanks, Lisa.
  18. Nanny Tax Calculator You can use the above site to help you find out the total cost ...
  19. How very sweet of you to say that.. I absolutely loved all of my jobs working as a nanny and I feel really cross when some people don't see it as a "proper job" and let their employers down, she wouldn't get away with it in any other job... I now have two children of my own so am now a SAHM... I do miss the work thing though... Hope all is resolved soon.
  20. I brought one online and have used it with both of my labours... I found the tens machine to be invaluable, it really helped. When having my second child this is all I used. Worth a try. Good luck.
  21. Gosh, that is a lot of time off. Im my days as working as a nanny I remember crawling into work somedays, even if I felt ill I went in and just had a quiet day at home with the children. I knew how important it was for my then bosses to get into work on time. One family that I worked for were so impressed that i had worked for them for 3 years without one day off sick that they paid me a very large bonus when i did leave... Maybe a call to your nanny and have a chat to her saying that you are concerned about her health and is there anything that you can do to help her out... maybe from the conversation you can tell if she is really THAT ill or just playing you along !! Remind her that you need to be able to go to work and that how hard you are finding it to cope and that your children need some sort of routine/stability by her being ther for them as she said she would be. Is she happy working for you, what did her past employers say about her time keeping ?? If she's not been working for you long, is she still on her probationary period... most of my jobs always had a 3 month probationary period where either side could give short notice if things weren't working out. Hope you manage to resolve the situation soon. ps. I also think that texting in is very rude and not professional at all.
