  1. We were told by the bin men that the small brown bin/container was to be used as a temporary bin within the house and that it should be tipped into the big brown bin just prior to the bin men doing the weekly collections. Makes sense as it saves them handling two bins at every location.
  2. Now you can't splash out on your annual foreign holiday(s) , what are you all going to spend the dosh on?
  3. Water does not hydrate you In 2011 the EU banned drink manufactures from claiming that water can prevent dehydration. EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove drinking water prevents dehydration. Producers of bottled water are forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict. The move was criticised as being both at odds with science and common sense. The NHS, which says dehydration occurs ?when your body loses more fluid than you take in?, advises drinking fluids to help ward off dehydration. from the Express

For the last 8 weeks the media has provided almost non-stop detailed information about CV19 so any thinking adult could readily assimilate the information and make a reasonable assessment on the risks and outcomes of whatever behaviour they decide to follow. If you want to live in a nanny state just admit it. Otherwise, make your own interpretation of all the information at your disposal. If you cannot form your own behaviour strategy then ask Citizens Advice and don't listen to James O'Brien on LBC

It is a pleasure to read your objective analysis about CV19 rather than the tribalistic political vitriol that is spewed by the regular suspects on this forum.

  9. Questioning the government about managing the pandemic is something we are all entitled to do in this democracy. What some of us find farcical is the political opportunism by Labour whereby they continually pressurise Govt to come up with a detailed plan for ending lockdown - without issuing any plan of their own. If Labour want to lead the country some day they should formulate a plan, publish it and let population evaluate it. It's akin to the dithering Corbyn did over the EU debate. It's a case of put up or shut up!
  10. The UK has a huge trading deficit with the EU so they have more to lose than us if WTO terms prevail. The fact that M. Barnier is whinging now is that he realises that the UK will not extend. The EU default ploy has always been to extend negotiations just wear the other side down. They did this with Ireland and Denmark on previous votes. With Southern Europe fast approaching debt meltdown, the EU is stuffed long term and we are better off out of it. France will try and achieve closer integration with Berlin and the Netherlands. The rest will be cast adrift. Boris would do well to tell them to where to go in no uncertain manner.
  11. I have been superbly successful in getting mine down by change of diet to the extent that I am now off statins completely:- Breakfast:- 1. Fruit & nut muesli 2. Oat bran (1.5 spoonfuls) 3. Soya milk Mix and leave to soak overnight in fridge Lunch 1. Broccoli florets (Raw) 2. Plum tomatoes 3. Red grapes 4. Braeburn apple 5. Tzatziki Mix in blender then dress with olive oil. (The broccoli/tomato mix is benefit is greater than the sum of the parts) Dinner:- Small portion of fish or chicken with 3 different veg. )h, and the odd glass of Syrah Works for me!
  12. One consideration that has not so far been mentioned is wind direction. If you are following someone who is say 2 metres in front and there is a head wind then you are going to get a steady stream of exhaled breath from the person in front. It's not do much an issue in an open space like a park but on a pavement the wind is channelled by the buildings so that it usually blows in parallel to the pavement.
  13. Surely now is the time to fix the potholes whilst there is so little traffic.
  14. It can be a real PIA if the shell breaks!
  15. One odd thing is that the lady reading the bus timetable is inside the police barrier tape. The other is that the power cable only appears in the first image . Otherwise it looks fairly authentic.
