  1. i'm really happy for you citizenED but trust me it's only partly to do with losing that sense of freedom, i genuinely just don't find babies that engrossing and interesting. yes, even mine (although cute at times, when the churchill pug dog look goes!) were generally not my thing. so please don't feel it's a shame for me, i was never under the illusion that i would change my attitude to babies just because they were mine! now toddlers onwards, that's my bag. yes tantrums, potty training and all other craziness is great fun for me. watching the children develop language, a sense of the world around them and be able to figure things out for themselves, they are my gold dust moments.
  2. it took 2 years for mine to start sleeping through, you are not going mad!
  3. surely heber then? not sure where the confusion is. then you are only paying for the wrap around care and sending them to a great local school. maybe i have misunderstood?
  4. designers block, they usually know their onions. i like the bike. i am sure that i'm a lone voice here but i'm never sad to see some designers doing well. and before the floodgates open it's not more tat of the oliver bonas variety. i understand that it's hard for some people to see the difference, but there is one.
  5. hi thanks for the quick reply, i was not aware that plans were to dispose of the site, i don't really care i just want something done! to be honest i'm more concerned about the road traffic speed/blind spots around bromar/avondale/ivanhoe: the way that the streets are used as a rat run from peckham and back with bad visibility on a busy route to school. i look forward to hearing what the outcome is, in the mean time is there anyone i could contact or email to flag this up? cheers.
  6. hi 2 questions please: when is the small empty block of flats on the corner of ivanhoe and bromar going to be dealt with? they have been empty a couple of years now and although the hoarding around them has been moved to help visibility for cars turning it is still really dangerous. i know that the plans were drawn up a while back but no movement. also, what is being done traffic calming measures wise around that same junction. again a couple of years back when the council came knocking at the door they said that this would be looked into. in the 5 minutes on my doorstep they also witnessed to almost crashes. loads of children use that route to get to DKH primary and drivers just steam down ivanhoe road/can't see when turning from bromar. it would be great to know, thanks.
  7. sleep deprived boredom, that's how i found it. one long round of feeds, broken sleep and lack of good conversation. but then i never did think that i would love having babies, personally it's all about 2+. sorry, but no blissed out babydom here.
  8. a twitter feed for the opening of a local pub, whatever next, a twitter for the roundabout on goose green? please don't tell me it already exists...
  9. hi barry, trains still screeching, i shall call that number and if you could chase up the person that you spoke to when you get back that would be great. thanks, a
  10. re-train screeching. that is great news, thank you for getting in touch with network rail, plus i shall call the number listed above. FYI it's really bad around the estate as well...
  11. they get really bad as you approach the invanhoe road/coppleston stretch.
  12. "monetary matters and are more satisfied by personal and family matters, none of which can be generally influenced by government. They are probably fairer and more accepting, maybe less demanding of government." most women run family budgets/household cash flows. i think women are very motivated, like most people, by issues that affect them.
  13. indeed happy birthday station manager corner! i am interested to read that i'm not mad, the train screeching is worse compared to a few years back. i think it got really bad after some major line work in 2007. or around then. as another post commented: oddly some trains are super quiet, so just now this minute one going to LB hardly a noise, one coming into ED screeching on every carriage. but it's not even relative to direction or type/age of train. but you will know this yourself if you live by the tracks. thanks for looking into this.
  14. i really hope jamesf is not making it up, this just gets better by the minute. so they live at home with mum and or dad. any more details? do they watch hollyoaks? do they pay for the music that they download? are they eligible to vote?? next it will transpire that one of their parents actually bought the house...
  15. hi barry, i just posted on the thread about screeching trains. is there anything that can be done about this? it seems to be getting worse (yes i know it's due to the drier weather) but you mentioned on the other thread that you would look into it. are more works planned? it would be great to know also so i won't wake up thinking that aliens have landed on the track in the middle of the night...no joke you should see some of these special trains and the noise that's made at 4 in the morning. thanks, a
  16. they have dropped some new track by the start of the estate/end of invanhoe road end, but i remember them working on the track last year and this does not seem to have improved anything. if i'd known that network rail would do anything about this i would have complained years ago. so, if a rally call is needed please let me know. i'll sign petitions, turn up to meetings to cut that noise. . .
  17. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm harmony...how refreshing jamesf, not sure where your bolt out of the blue comes crashing in from but you've struck up a chord on this loveless thread.
  18. looks like we all got it wrong: http://www.emptyhomes.com/usefulresources/stats/2009breakdown.htm according to the empty home agency stats it's actually: 75,706 total for london in 2009 28,804 for private homes
  19. there are apparently 43,000 properties empty http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-13720383-43000-empty-homes.do
  20. what a tragedy, another house split into flats.
  21. guru died? i have to go back and read this thread... no way, i thought it was just a stroke. i must have this wrong and i'm completely off topic... alas i would argue that after step in the arena it was downhill. right off to read countless pages of bickering to check on an old rappers fate...
  22. the tyranny of charts. i was completely off the chart as a child and poorly all the time but the 70's the NHS treated my mum like a freak for caring. i still stand by the principle that a child will eat when they're hungry and that we put too much pressure on ourselves about their diet. only the other day i read that the 5 a day mantra does not actually apply to children. my kids are normal vaguley fussy eaters, forget anything green etc... love all the sugary things. this is normal. the trap not to fall into is feeding them processed food and fizzy sugary drinks, but you don't sound like you are anywhere near doing that. all that to say, she sounds fine to me. she's happy, active and eating basics. it's hard when the 'system' is making you feel like that's not good enough but it is.
  23. i have to say that the iphone official national railway app is great
  24. twin mum too and i did exactly like fushia, what you threaten you must do and be smart about the issues you pick. with twins from a very early age you're managing arguments about sharing, hitting, leading the other one on and it doesn't half wisen you up as a mother ;)
