  13. Magpie wrote ------------------------ Really, you think Southwark council is full of middle-class imogens and Toby's? I had always imagined a bunch of middle class amateur Marxists clutching copies of the Socialist Worker - as they think of yet more ways in which they can ban fun. That some them up dame! I now have to put away my costume this year I wanted mock a few Catholics how badly they cocked up centuries ago ;-)
  14. The fact is we have been celebrating Guy Fawkes night for years whether we were forced or not so why change it now, as to your thread MP I was just looking at from a historical point of view I know there is no grudge now. http://talesofcuriosity.com/v/GunPowder/i/GuyFawkes.jpg

  19. I like the name Waterloo and Trafalgar they were two wars we won, and we should be proud of it, the amount of wars we have had with the French over the centuries is mind boggling these particular wars were memorial we had great leaders at the helm. I always thought that the French hated the English because we burned Joan of Arc I think that is the deep seated hatred over the centuries just my concept though.

  21. If for medical research in finding cures yes I am in favor of animal testing, not for cosmetics when you watch some of the animal rights activist and how they conduct themselves I am just wondering if they were struck down by a serous illness would they take the drug to save there lives and that drug was tested on animals? Just a thought.
  22. Why or why do we have to change things, can?t we keep anything traditional do we always have to change things to fit in with someone else?s concept I am sure most of us grew up and still celebrate Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night it has a great historical story a round it that what makes it so intriguing about the whole thing. How many countries can top that are we going to change Waterloo Station because it offends Sarkozy and the French people? Can we just get real and except we have a great history in this country and we should be proud of it.
