  1. Sounds good to me. I have little interest in pubs that are more bothered about serving people expensive lunch and dinners, than enjoying drinks. As you said EDT seems to be the only one in the LL stretch that attracts people mostly there for drinking. Great it will not be a Youngs either, who are the biggest money grabbers going.
  2. Have bought a season ticket, didn't know there was going to be a women's team at the time, but it gives an incentive to pop by on a Sunday for a pint if there is a game on to watch and its part of the season ticket.
  3. I was told that in every Antic pub they do this, as their cheap menu option. The idea behind it is those with limited incomes who cant be bothered to cook after work of an evening, can still come to the pub and have a decent enough meal for a fair price. When they first started it the thinking was a hot dinner and a pint for around a tenner, but as prices have gone up that no longer possible, but i suppose still reasonable enough.

Your whole post is just me, me, me. In an attempt to justify your risible views, you have unnecessarily divulged personal details of your life in the past, which is strange and has no relevance at all to the destination and frequency of bus routes around East Dulwich, which is what this conversation is about. We have possibly the best transport system on the planet, but still it is not to your liking as it doesn't get you personally to work quickly or comfortably enough- i rest my case. Try not to be too bitter in life, its unhealthy.
  5. I wish publicans all followed your lead. I never have a roast in a pub in London, as it is at least ?15 normally, and quite often is lukewarm, as much of the food is already cooked and sat around until someone puts an order in. A decent meal for a tenner and you've got my custom, along with a couple of pints (providing they arent silly prices too). Best value i have seen in ED seems to be bangers and mash in the EDT for ?8. Never tried it mind.
  6. Classic example of NIMBY'ism. Don't fly over over my house, fly over other peoples instead, meaning they have to put up with the noise so I don't have to. London is a major global city with multiple airports. You will have to put up with aircraft noise if you choose to live here. That's the nature of the beast, and frankly petitions such as this are a waste of time and effort.
  7. Tell you what mate, why don't you put your little rant in a little letter and send it to the mayor's office, proposing that he set up a new bus route entirely for you to get to work on time. Your attitude is horrendous- you literally think that London should revolve around you, rather than the vice versa, because you like every other person, has to face the grind of a daily commute to work. I also have to get the overground into Canada Water and change onto the terribly overcrowded Jubilee Line, but guess what mate? That's what i have to do to go to work, and i have to deal with that. It all part and parcel of living in London. Perhaps, it might make your life easier and happier if you searched for a "lowly shop assistant" job nearby to where you live, or perhaps leave London altogether if you cant hack it. And dont even bother responding crying "why should i?!", because you clearly are a spoilt individual who just doesn't quite understand how life in London works.
  8. Ridiculous. Talk to people in towns (not villages) outside of London, where the one sole bus route is under threat from getting axed, not because they are unpopular, because of funding cuts. There is a bus that runs up Lordship Lane every 4 minutes at present. What more do you want?! If you personally really want to get somewhere specific, really quickly, then there are also a million taxis you can order. For all other times, please wait patiently for a bus that will be along in a few minutes, and try not to sound so pathetically entitled while you are at it.
  9. Most buses during the day are empty anyway. Compared to the rest of the country and possibly the world, we have an unbelievable bus service. If some cuts and changes have to be made from time to time due to changing dynamics and financial savings then so be it. Hopefully people are aware that there is a train service from East Dulwich to London Bridge which takes about 10 minutes and runs, i believe, every 15 minutes.
  10. Closing down nurseries whilst spending 100's of millions of pounds on "Brexit". Utterly shameful .
  11. Hi there, i cant see any menu's on your website, im quite intrigued as to your offerings.
  12. Because she came across as an attention seeking do gooder, trying to get admiration for doing something so heroic as to film a few teenagers nicking a beer or two from Tesco. Whoopy do!

  14. Its likely kids from the local estates in Peckham targeting the area as its known for its well to do, well off inhabitants. When i lived in a rough part of Peckham, i rarely heard of or saw muggings like the ones described here (more street violence linked to feuds), which suggests they dont want to crap on their own doorstep. That being said, i would be surprised if it didn't happen there too, and everywhere in fact. Unfortunately there is little that can be done about it. The Police are too stretched to assign a resource in the hope of catching a kid with a knife on the rob around East Dulwich, just have to be vigilant against these utter scumbags.
  15. These two young chaps are based nearby, and are excellent. Website is as below: https://www.richiegreenfingers.com/about.html
  16. To be fair, it is still light at 21:30 at the moment. This is quite shocking how he would assault you first and then rob you. Even though i doubt he would try something with me, it is good to be aware. May i ask, were you crossing the road at the time? Or did he mount the pavement?
  17. Would recommend watching big games at the Dulwich Hamlet clubhouse. The beer is cheap, the atmosphere is good, and your helping the local football team out by drinking there.
  18. Ravaged! Depressing! Terrible! Classic stuff. Straight out the Daily Mail! The individuals problem's are about a lot more than a tame music festival happening 2 days out of 365 with a finishing time of 10pm, they are with the world and life itself. Whilst quite sad, it is also a source of amusement.
  19. ah you see, some people these days think they are entitled to all the pleasures of rural countryside living, yet still choose to live in one of the worlds major cities at the same time, then complain they are not getting the best of both worlds. See also, Gala Festival.
  20. Its pretty hard to cause deliberate damage to a boiler, unless you take a hammer to it, so tell your landlord to get stuffed- they are responsible for repairs and if necessary replacement of a boiler that develops a fault. Also, make sure you find somewhere else to live once the contract is up, as it sounds to me that a landlord even trying to make tenants pay for a faulty boiler is shady, illegal business and you wont want him as your landlord in future anyway.
  21. you do realise that they arent going to be reading your post, right? Is this some weird kind of public self congratulation? Perhaps if you were so outraged you could have grabbed one by the scruff of the neck rather than scuttle off and sneer on a forum about parenting skills and "whiny cockney accents".
  22. Those moaning would actually find themselves to be worse off if there wasn't a festival on their doorstep, because it would mean that this time next year, they will have to find something else to moan about instead. Perhaps emergency services sirens will be next on the moan list. I mean, how dare every once in a while a loud noise occur near where i live in a busy metropolis, its noise torture i tell you!
  23. really? i looked through yesterday and it was little more than an empty room with rubble and other debris stacked up against the walls. No sign of anyone in there at 17:45. If thats progress, the place must have been a bombsite before.
