  1. Wicker Laundry Basket Dimensions are 70cm w x 55cm d x 60cm h Showing it's age a little but perfectly serviceable. £10 Collection from near Charter East. PM if interested.
  2. Line speed and the strength of your Wi-Fi signal are two separate things. The first is determined by the type of connection (fibre/copper etc) to the outside world and the second is the connection between the device (printer/TV/laptop/tablet etc) and the router. If you are connecting a device to the router using cables (as Alec1 is) then this is will give the best possible connection but isn't practical for many without a degree of upheaval and even then not all devices (tablets for example) will allow a wired connection. So you relying on the quality of the Wi-Fi signal from the router to the device and this will depend on the quality of the router, the type of Wi-Fi connection (the frequency), line of sight etc - many different things. This is why some people opt for a "mesh" type setup which is supposed to give a solid quality of Wi-Fi signal around the house with little or no blackspots. It's expensive though and still requires the devices that send and receive the signal (like the plug-ins you have) to be wired to the router.
  3. So for the vast, vast majority of people their internet is access via wires (or fibre) supplied by openreach, virgin or one of the smaller providers like community fibre so there is a physical medium involved. However you can buy off-the-shelf 5G Routers that have a SIM card slot. Put a 5G SIM card in it and you can then access the internet from your home devices via 5G. Imagine hot-spotting your phone and sharing it. Effectively that's what your doing. Rather than buy one, 3 (and I think EE) allow you to take out a contract for a 5G SIM and the router for around £20-25 a month. Speeds won't be as fast but I get around 80 gig bits download speed and it holds up fine for us. Thus the mobile providers gain a foothold in the "broadband" market. 3 offer a no-quibble 30 day guarantee so you can try it out and if you find your signal isn't strong or reliable enough you can take it back for no charge.
  4. Vodafone and Three merged this year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VodafoneThree
  5. I have been using the 5G broadband service from 3 for about 3 years and I've rarely had issues. I have a separate router for the WiFi around the house so can't comment on the quality of the WiFi from the 3 5G router itself. It could be worth moving it to a different location in your property. I also think there is a way to get the router to show you the 5G signal strength to help you find the best location.
  6. While I'm sure that sales of M&S crispbread per capita in East Dulwich are undoubtedly the highest in the country, "a bit niche" must be in line for the EDF understatement of the year award.
  7. So you agree then that the square has reduced theft from a vehicle crime then ?
  8. My residents Parking Permit expired at midnight last night. Doctors appointment this morning. Returned from doctors about midday to see I'd got a PCN. Permit now renewed (I know I should have done it in advance). What are the chances of appealing the PCN do you think ?
  9. What I have been saying for a long time that, within the Dulwich Village area and particularly around the LTNs there is a shrinking problem with certain types of crime, especially theft from a motor vehicle - down two-thirds on the previous year BTW. I think you tried to tell us it wasn't a shinking problem. Clearly, according to the Met's own analysis, it is.
  10. So why the drop in theft from vehicles ? Does that correlate to the square as well ?
  11. https://www.gov.uk/alerts?cid=email_FINAL_WP1595_MME-gov.uk+website Not sure who’s affected but thought I’d put this out there.
  12. Although the Southwark website says that the Hillboro' Road School Street hours are 8 to 8:45 and 3:15 to 4, I think the signs have been changed to match JAGS/Greendale, i.e. 8-9 and 3:15 to 5. From the London Gazette (we all read that !!)
  13. I found this. https://engage.southwark.gov.uk/en-GB/projects/townley-crossings/1 There was a consultation last year in October. I certainly wasn't aware of it. I wish the council would communicate these things more widely.
  14. I think they're putting in a zebra crossing to make it safer to cross the road between the playing fields on the south side and the school on the north side.
  15. Happy to do the speed awareness rather than take the points tbh. Was on my way to a funeral so maybe not concentrating as I much as I should have been.
  16. I've received a speeding for driving at 24mph along Peckham Rye near Piermont Green. Be careful out there !
  17. I've commuted into town for 25+ years and so have been able to see the changes over a long period of time. I'd say that the number of people cycling has increased significantly in that period, especially over the winter period where then the numbers used to drop off in the dark and cold. For me there has always been a degree of bad behaviour but mostly people jumping lights or riding without lights in the dark. However the last 7 years or so it's got a lot worse and in simple terms in my view it's money related. If you're doing food deliveries then you want to do as many as you can I guess to earn the maximum income and you know that you're very unlikely to be pulled over by the police. Similarly the Lime et al riders are paying for hire and it's purely time based so the quicker you get from A-to-B the less it costs you. Then those that are riding their own bikes see the behaviour of others and I guess they think "well if they can do it why don't I". I don't witness a lot of pavement cycling by those on their own bikes other than parents with young children which I understand but don't condone. Mostly it's the same cohort as above - food delivery and rental bikes. C'est la vie I expect. Unless there were significantly increased policing of bad behaviour then it's here to stay.
  18. Hilarious - you don't even know what criteria that's being applied to create the category and yet you're happy to shout it loud and proud. It's on a website ! It MUST be true !
  19. Ah... but it ain't Calton Avenue is it ? It crimes within 0.5 miles of the postcode. As I mentioned above there are only 6 crimes on that list that were reported as taking place on Calton Avenue. The website is flawed - it says a street is safe or unsafe but includes data from the surrounding area. Simples.
  20. According to this site, Giff Gaff is your best bet. You only need to make a quick 25p call every 180 days to keep the sim active. Diarise right and that's about 50p a year. https://kenstechtips.com/index.php/best-payg-sim-for-low-usage
  21. Couldn't agree more. I'm thinking of creating a web page that says "Ignore the fake news ! Carlton Avenue is 100% safe !" and sending to R. So when you're quoting the website saying Calton Avenue is unsafe, do you mean Calton Avenue or the postcode SE21 7DE ? Are all the streets included in the numbers impacted by new square ?
  22. If the focus of the discussion is Calton then there we only 6 crimes reported. The other are on nearby streets. Also the below is confusing: In 2023, 309 crimes were reported near Calton Avenue . 39% of streets in the UK are more dangerous. This street can be considered not safe. Is it "This street" including or excluding "near" - it doesn't make sense. The bot that creating this nonsense is flawed. I could live in an impenetrable gated community with private security guards where murders were taking place outside on a daily basis and my street would be considered unsafe.
