  1. Ah Bells, yup forgot about them. Wonder if it's still in the same hands since 1919.
  2. I was wondering what the oldest business is on Lordship Lane that is still operating under the same ownership. My guess is AJ Farmer, established in 1964. Anything older ? I'm excluding the pubs which will have been around a lot longer but no doubt gone through several different owners.
  3. Deep Purple ? Led Zeppelin ? Both around the late sixties I'm guessing.
  4. Sue - I promise you that was no fake photo, not sure that I'm even capable to that. I took the picture about 12:15 today.
  5. Lordship Lane near Court Lane.
  6. Peak East Dulwich, right there.
  7. I think most people want trees. Just trees that are suited to their surroundings.
  8. Once someone has constantly loped of all the branches. 🙂
  9. I get that they're being pollarded. This estate was built in the 60's and so I'm guessing that they're around 60 years old. Nothing wrong with that but even when they re-grow they're hardly going to be the most attractive. Y'know just musing on improving the look of our public spaces.
  10. Just walked back from DV to Lordship Lane and wandered through the estate on EDG. There's a tree surgeon pruning the trees there (council funded for sure) and it just seems a bit bizarre as the stumps that are left are far from attractive. I would that thought that replacement was what was really needed here. Appreciate that funds are tight but really is there not a better option ?
  11. Nice one on Choumert Road.
  12. Anyone know why they've put breaks in the paving in ? Is it to take the run-off from the roads ?
  13. Hey - I can see that you're selling a lot of items - the preferred rule here is to put them all on one post rather than individual ones. From Forum Rules section: "If you have a big list of similar items to sell at once (e.g. a garage sale) then please put them all in one thread. Do not create more than 3 topics per day per account."
  14. I'm sure that they be more subtle - I'm imagining the head of the Met meeting with the leader of the council in a dark room, probably a private members club, brandies in hand a councillor with an agenda walks in with some blackmail material...meanwhile it turns out the driver was a paediatrician who'd been working all night to save a set of twins from near certain death having been called into the hospital from an anniversary dinner with her husband and skidded to avoid a family of foxes crossing the road on her way home...(Ad Break).
  15. Hey I'm no Leeming apologist. I'm just trying to understand Rockets ", in his position as an elected official, could he be prejudicing a future case " comment. I get that he's not Leeming's biggest cheerleader but this all feels a bit Daily Fail to me. Oh come on. This is beginning to look like an ITV drama. A crap one.
  16. Let’s be honest it can only be the latter, i.e. speculation. Still not sure how this is “prejudicing a future case” or why he shouldn’t express his view about the consequences for the driver, whether he is innocent or guilty.
  17. Explain " in his position as an elected official, could he be prejudicing a future case". Are you saying that by being an elected official he could be prejudicing a future case ? Prejudicing who exactly ? The magistrates or judge or jury ? We don't know if anyone was injured or worse but given the information that's been shared so far it would not to be the case so trial by jury is pretty unlikely I would have thought. Therefore it's likely to be a magistrate or judge that decides the fate. Personally I think there zero chance of any punishment handed out being influenced by post on social media by a local councillor. I believe that driving bans are mandatory for dangerous driving, maybe not so for the lesser offence of careless driving. Isn't this really about you having a dig at Leeming ?
  18. Update I saw a couple of skips outside today and I've noticed that a revised planning application was approved recently. Ref: 24/AP/1440 Still going to be a nursery, run by https://nfamilyclub.com/
  19. Looks like Network Rail are closing the line north and south of East Dulwich from Saturday 26 October to Friday 1 November 2024 inclusive to upgrade track and signalling. They've chosen half-term week but I imagine this is going to still have a major impact. https://www.southernrailway.com/service-updates/service-updates/south-london-closure London Overground route between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction also impacted.

  20. TBH, I kind of doubt that you'll find anything much less than 60cm wide as that's the UK standard to allow them to fit in the width of a normal single kitchen cabinet. The depths do vary though and there is a depth filter on the AO.com website.
  21. I'd like to recommend Jordan from Gutter Maintenance Tech who we used recently to replace our tired and rotting soffits and facia board and guttering. They use their own scaffold tower so it works out cheaper than other contractors but the work itself is of an excellent standard. They said they would take two days and they stuck to this in spite of horrendous weather conditions. Lovely people - we'd use them again with no reservations. https://www.gmtltd.org/
  22. I'd also highly recommend David Rowden from Flujo. This is the second time I've used his services and this time it was upgrading some radiators. Really pleasant to have around. Very neat and tidy. Great communicator. Fair pricing. Would use again for any heating or plumbing related work.
  23. I like to add to the above recommendations for Dave. He's recently decorated two bedrooms and our kitchen/dining area and repaired and repainted some ceilings which were in a poor state. A great guy to have around. Really hard working, knows his stuff and left the house clean and tidy. Even minimised our parking permit costs by using his bike. How many other decorators would leave you the leftover paint all marked up ? Would wholeheartedly 100% recommend.
  24. What kind of fuel do they burn ? Does it emit Particulate Matter ?
