  7. Because it's not just a discussion, both sides know that the outcome will have real and long lasting repercussions, and are really frustrated that the other side doesn't see the dangers... guess we'll just have to wait to see who gets to say 'told you so' as the country flourishes/plunges into the abyss.
  8. Brilliant thread, hilarious and comforting in equal measures...
  9. Good point... I don't think it gave a year.
  10. I've eaten plenty of wagon wheels but can't persuade myself to eat an oyster...
  11. Apparently there is now a firm date for re-opening on the 7th November (according to a post on Herne Hill forum news). We'll see...
  12. Yes, although there may be more important things in life, a law firm of all people should stick to the law. Whether it causes 'enough harm' or not is irrelevant, sounds like Southwark Council Planning Enforcement are just being lazy.
  13. There are printed booklets in local shops, or you can search online http://dulwichfestival.co.uk/artists-open-house/
  14. Agree... Hard to believe the sheer quantity of serious talent in this area! We did some visiting last weekend and will be doing more this weekend, strongly recommend it to anyone wondering whether to or not...
  15. Yes, it is going to cost a lot of money, and yes I gather it is also a land grab, doesn't sound like a good plan to me...
  16. Went to the screening today at Peckhamplex, brillliant... you can see the film at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p03rkqcv/shakespeare-lives-the-works
  17. Agree Seabag, if you can't park in the laybay then Southwark should turf it over ? it's looking like a honeytrap to me ;)
  18. mikeb they have approved it in principle, but you can still raise objections until Thursday, and they are obliged to at least read them, so do ? the more the merrier http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200140/parking_projects/3777/north_dulwich_and_denmark_hill_%E2%80%93_consultation_on_possible_new_zone don't expect it to make any difference though :(
  19. Last chance to raise any objections to the North Dulwich CPZ (closes this Thursday 21st Jan)... you can fill in a form at https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=1081 I agree that CPZs are much more about creating a useful revenue stream than making it easier for residents to park.
  20. Only ?200 short of goal now, and a few hours left...
  21. It's now on ?11,434, I've just done a small pledge, it would be brilliant to see if the forum can get this one up and running!
  22. Agree it's brilliant, but it closes January 17th not April! Definately worth a second visit...
  23. Vetoes?
  24. I agree it would be good to involve a third party, a priest or palliative care nurse, they might be able to speak on your mother's behalf. There was an article in the Guardian recently which might be helpful http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/nov/27/father-death-stepmother-deathbed-personal-problem-solved-bereavement-grief How sad, it must be very hard for you.
  25. Catching myself singing Bob Marleys 'Burnin and Lootin' walking along East Dulwich Grove, misremembering the words so actually singing 'this morning I woke up in the ghetto' (yes I know it's curfew, same difference in this context)... me a white 60s+ Dulwich resident. Suggestions for more site-relevant lyrics welcome.
