  1. Even after having a bath I use a small spray bottle and lightly spray the kids skin/nightwear. Might sounds weird but I spray them again whilst they're asleep (if it doesn't disturb them!). Love the cold water bottle idea!
  2. The uniform shop closed and the music shop took over the premises. Not sure where you could get your teen shirts. Hope you find some.
  3. It's so frustrating but hang in there (agree hugely with redjam about trying not to show frustrations, easier said than done though). There's been some academic studies into it which have led to this website being produced to help carers and parents: http://www.childfeedingguide.co.uk/home This website has complied some of the previous links into a handy list too. http://www.srnutrition.co.uk/2015/04/a-parents-guide-to-child-feeding Obviously every child is different, but it can work - I spent a year at a time regularly 'exposing' my son to specific vegetables by putting one on/next to his plate initially (with other food I knew he'd eat) but telling him he didn't have to eat it, making it look extra appealing and slowly getting him to try it by getting him to lick it/bite but not eat it/pop it etc. He now eats a few different veggies without any issues/complaints, some veggies need some encouragement still but I see it as a looooong road with him! Having school dinners seems to have helped, maybe through peer pressure and enjoying independence. Best of luck but try not to worry!
  4. Agree with previous posters, it may be too soon to be dry at night and was also about to suggest ERIC too. Their website has a section on kids/children and they have a helpline too. If your 5yr old is having accidents later in the day, he/she could be 'holding on' and by later in the day he/she can't hold any more. You're doing brilliantly to try not to be frustrated and yes it's worth seeing what you can do to help (it's a common problem for kids of various ages). Best of luck!
  5. Just a quick tip - asda do some own brand disposable waterproof mats which have no adhesive on the back (making them very easy to put on/off in the middle of the night, especially useful for a top bunk).
  6. Huge sympathies, it's very frustrating and sounds like you need more information (as Saffron said above). Also, if it IS scarlet fever, please query the length/strength of the course of penicillin you were given, the NHS website states the course should be 10 days for scarlet fever (we had a case of child scarlet fever and were given a 5 day course which even the pharmacist queried the length of. After a call to the GPs a longer course of penicillin was issued). Hope your son feels much better soon.
  7. I've no experience of butekyo but I've had respiratory physio and it's really helped with my asthma generally. I agree with peckham rose that discovering and (frustratingly) avoiding your triggers is vital, and second that Asthma UK are worth contacting. I have one of these for short periods when I can't avoid my triggers: http://www.vogmask.com/products/orange-n99-c2v-organic (amazon stock them intermittently). Good luck!
  8. Another recommendation for Aria and his brother from A.F.E Plumbing; they helped fix two radiator leaks for us and were extremely helpful, professional and efficient. I'd definitely use them again.
  9. Totally the same (& with girls too... And seems to continue through school!). Normally hear about school things when they instigate the conversation. Frustrating!
  10. This has been discussed previously http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1667077,1669276#msg-1669276 with differing perspectives. You can call 101 non-emergency police number if concerned.
  11. Theatre trip? check out kidsweek.co.uk for free tickets (if accompanied by an adult) during August. The science museum - has a gaming exhibition this summer with video games through the years. My teen nieces love a trip to Camden too (if oxford street isn't bad enough!).
  12. Notice on the door says that it is a 'Pedlar venture' in the form of a pizza place. Planning to open in August.
  13. Not sure how journey times compare as it's a while since I did it, but an alternative route is: bus to elephant and castle, then bakerloo line to Regents park, then walk through the park to the zoo. Probably a longer walk than from Camden tube, but lovely to walk through the park.
  14. Brilliant. Thanks Zephy, I'll give them a try.
  15. Thanks for the replies - Tippitoes is popular and already booked and we already have a venue so the Albrighton isn't suitable. Any other suggestions greatly welcomed!
  16. Not sure if it helps but I get a red rash when dandelion leaves touch my skin. I haven't looked into it at all, I just stay away from them. Best of luck getting it sorted.
  17. I've previously hired soft play equipment and/or a bouncy castle from Lisa at Bubble Bees but can't get hold of her (since the Greendale venue closed she may have moved on to other things). Does anyone have any recommendations for other companies hiring this sort of thing please? Thanks in advance.
  18. Muji used to sell a simple but moveable model solar system. Not sure if they still sell them. My friend's daughter loves hers.
  19. I've heard? (so not first hand experience, take it as you will1) ?.that they are brilliant. A bit of a faff to get used to, but possible and worth it for the results).
  20. The Rosie Project is very entertaining (a rom-com in a book), I thought it was brilliant.
  21. Thanks for highlighting the consultation - would not have been aware of it otherwise. Response completed and hope the proposals are binned/they invest in something more worthwhile.
  22. Tuesday morning at the Copleston Centre/the church on Copleston road is still on (9.30am - 11.30am) and Rae (who runs it) is very welcoming.
  23. Not sure if it's still the case but GDND (search for miss danni on here) does a street dance class on a Tuesday at the Goose Green Centre (next to the church) and it used to be very popular and full of boys.
  24. Try JAGS - I can't remember what age they take them from but the intensive classes are open to non-members (mine was 5 when she did it, but there were some younger kids there).
