  1. Hello. The cat in the picture is a Bengal. If you manage to trap him tomorrow then I can probably borrow a microchip machine to check for identification and reunite him with his owner. My number is 07956255860. Lisa x
  2. Hi Tiddles, I 've used the household spray a few times over the years, in conjunction with the spot on from the vets ( Frontline spray for young kittens once too as we rescued 14 who were absolutely infested and becoming ill. I'm not sure if there is now a product for really young kittens other than Frontline spray - be great if anyone in the know could add info to this ....Anyway my heart sank as I know it's chemicals, and I don't know the absolute truth about the effects, but I'm not sure they would have survived if I hadn't done so.) Have also seen adult cats and dogs that we've rescued ill from flea infestation and it's often one of the first things that needs attending to before you can see if there are further health issues. You really should remove yourselves, pets and air thoroughly as per the instructions with the spray but it does work and is the only solution I know. I don't have carpets but I do have many pets of my own, and ones that pass through my place with cushions, duvets and beds pretty much scattered where they want them. In the last 14 years, I've probably only needed to use the spray approximately 4 times but I do use Advocate and am a self confessed slightly obsessive, compulsive cleaner ( inherited gene, unable to shed ! ) Hopefully there will be a better solution one day. Have to say this year has definitely been the worst for noticing a sudden increase in the lodger population. Warm Purrs Lisa x
  3. Such a good thread for anyone with pets !'Lodgers' have developed an immunity to certain products over the last number of years. There has been an increase in the last 3 to 4 weeks of the summer, it coincided with the temperature change, generally does and, as much as I'd love to find an alternative, non chemical solution, there simply isn't one that is as fast and effective as Advocate or products on prescription. An infestation can also be a health risk to pets. I mean infestation left untreated. They procreate in armies, it really is worth a trip to the vet if you are under siege. Best Purr Lisa x
  4. So very sorry to hear this terribly sad news. Please inform the park warden, Southwark dog warden, the RSPCA and the police. A record of the incident is vital for their records for now and the future. Lisa x
  5. great news MrsMa ...she'll be home for tea:))
  6. sorry, can't help you there - they just don't go missing anymore x
  7. Then I'd better not mention the stray donkey in my bathroom .....
  8. Hey Frankito - there's a lost goat in my garden too - could you squeeze him in ? Only kidding. Will keep you posted:)) x
  9. The kitten found on Marmora Rd is around 4 months old and a little chap - if anyone has lost a kitten that fits this description please call me on 07956 255860. Best Purr Lisa x ( hola Frankito )
  10. Sent text round to all I know and also had a round robin from lovely Karen ( the fab dog groomer ! ) - so all her clients will know too. Has Zafi already gone to Batteresea ? xxx
  11. Have added a post in the wanted section entitled ' hopefully useful information for lost/found pets ' - it should help people cover all bases quickly if a cat or dog goes missing as it contains all the numbers to call. ( Do add more if you know any others ) Cats, in particular at this time of year, often start to wander further afield as they uncurl from Winter x
  12. Hi Anna, Give me a call if you like ( 07956 255860 ) - my name is Lisa and I run bowwowmiaow. If we can establish that he is definately homeless; then I'm happy to help track him down, neuter and rehome him - if it would be beneficial all round. Would be good to talk through how feral the fella is, or has become, as this will give me some idea of the way forward. Warm Purrs Lisa
  13. laughin'...guess the flatmates want a 40kg bag dropping round then ? ;-)
  14. She's "landed on her paws" then so far; good to hear - thanks for the update x
  15. Hi ya First Mate, ....cats too,..... last summer we were handed 5 kittens, less than 5 days old, found dumped by wheelie bin.... hand reared them over the summer as no nursing feline could be found,3 hourly feeds during the night....yikes! However now ruling the roost at bowwowmiaow HQ and Co..... x Anyway, back on topic - sorry to digress - paws crossed someone is missing her and checks the forum x
  16. hi ya first mate - dog warden is aware as they were contacted within the first hour of the dog being tied up ( right outside the wardens office ) and one of the wardens was kindly organising transport to a shelter, and also to check for microchip etc. Am wondering if she was originally stolen and then dumped as she appeared well balanced, socialised and trained, if excitable/stressed ? Fingers crossed the original owner is found if that's the case... only speculation though. Huge increase in abandoned pets during the last couple of years - very sad. Hope you find her original home if they are missing her Kamila. x
  17. Hello, I am Lisa and run bowwowmiaow with the help of my small two-legged team; all who have been aboard for many years - knowing the dogs and owners well. I trust, respect, and am extremely fond of each of them. Pearson - I was disturbed to hear you mention one of them, even in an allegedly flippant way, in this post: Surely you knew it to be defamatory, not to mention distasteful ?( I understand you know Simon and think he is a 'good guy' from your post - which raises the question why you would even contemplate associating him with a negative incident unless you had absolute certainty it was him ? - I do wonder your motive & intention, and pity anyone you consider a ' bad guy ') I do know the gentleman with grey hair and a pony tail:I also know the dogs he walks, and who he works for, but feel it would not be professional of me to disclose; it is simply important for me to state he does not work for bowwowmiaow and he himself has always been pleasant when I have met him. However, I have known Simon really well for 12 years, having originally began bowwowmiaow together. At 6pm this evening he was pony tail free, sporting ' man flu ',and still had black curly hair and a beard; with not a wisp of grey. To my knowledge he has never tied his hair back in a ponytail - unless he stole my ' scrunchy ' this morning - in which case, we really need a private chat away from the lights of the forum ! ) He has not walked in Peckham Rye Park for over 4 years - prior to the cafe's existence - and he drives a silver/blue people carrier; Neither does he walk 2 collies or a boxer. We also, as a general rule, do not walk groups of dogs on lead through the streets or use bicycles: It is just our preference and a lengthy reasoning is not relevant - some dogs find it very hard to be on lead in such close proximity to other dogs - it restricts the flight or flight mechanism thereby inhibiting their body language, and a group of dogs doing this along the roadside ( a potential further stressor for sound sensitive dogs ) need to be very familiar with each other and secure with environment they are being expected to negotiate.... sometimes it just isn't much fun for them.( Oh dear, that was lengthy after all! ) However I have seen dogs perfectly happily trotting along in a group by the roadside - dogs, like humans, are individual and what one can happily cope with another will tell you, through sometimes discreet body language, otherwise. I hope this removes Simon from the frame but I will be sure to keep you posted if he skips in with a grey rinse and ponytail in the morning; does anyone know a good divorce lawyer ? Warm Woofs Lisa
