  5. Hi, my last posting for weekend, pleased to say there will be services tomorrow at East Dulwich, Peckham Rye etc, I would advise checking website before travelling for train times. Happy Xmas shopping! Barry
  6. Hi Unfortunately I can not confirm that at this stage, however based on today and what will happen tonight I dont think there will be any services tomorrow for East Dulwich, Peckham, North Dulwich etc Really sorry...... Can I suggest looking at the Southern website tomorrow morning for the updates www.southernrailway.com Barry
  7. Sorry for delay responding A couple of points Buses/Tubes accepting Southern/Southeastern Tickets The point regarding no trains East Dulwich, Peckham etc, I will deal with this after the weekend, sorry but can only deal with what we have out there. There will be meetings with department heads to discuss this week and the severe disrupton and will be addressing this issue Lastly, we are planning to shut down the route from 1930hrs tonight, it has been a very difficult day to say the least. No service from London Bridge and Victoria after then. Not a good week to say the least, I can only apologise for the inconvenience to your travel this week or lack of it should I say. I know there are numerous reports in the media, however you know I have always been open and honest with you. When I say that staff at Southern have worked non stop this week to get something running has been amazing. Staff have been very dedicated this week on the frontline getting in, walking miles, clearing snow. I also want to mention that staff behind the scenes at HQ/Control Centre have not stopped, trust me when I say it is not an easy task coordinating sever disruption of this magnitude. Lots of lessons to learn for sure, and we do have to rely on Network Rail to keep the routes open I will do what I can to update for the remainder of the day Regards Barry
  8. Good evening, I am afraid the update is more or less the same as earlier. There will be shuttle services tomorrow but not between Tulse Hill and South Bermondsey, this includes Peckham, North and East Dulwich, etc I know this is not good news however we are doing everything possible to recover our services, track access etc If anything changes I will update as soon as I have the information, please refer to our website for further updates That's me done for the day! Barry
  9. Sorry, nothing for ED at the moment, London Bridge via Forest Hill to East Croydon, as soon as we have services from Peckham, Dulwiches etc, I will update Barry
  10. Hi We are now running a half hourly service between London Bridge and East Croydon, departing at XX15 and XX45 and returning at XX20 and XX50. This service will stop at all stations. We are currently clearing the route between London Victoria and East Croydon, and hope to introduce a half hourly shuttle service between these stations from 1000hrs. This will be a limited service with limited capacity. The Brighton Mainline remains suspended, however we are working to clear this route to enable a service to run later today. Barry
  11. Morning, due to heavy snow fall and adverse weather all Southern services are suspended. A limited Southern service will begin in the London Metro Area at 10am I will update when I have further information Apologies for inconvenience Barry
  12. Hi For tomorrow, Southern plan to operate a full Metro service, although with more snow forecast for the next 24 hours, it is likely to again be subject to disruption, alterations and maybe some cancellations All stations will be fully staffed in the morning to help with customer service and assistance. If you find that your ticket office is closed this will be down to staff clearing platforms of ice and snow which is a priority in respect of your safety. Please use Ticket Machines If there are any changes to the above I will update at 2100hrs this evening and any major issues in the morning, again I will update around 0730hrs Safe journey home Barry
  13. Good evening Sorry to say the news is the same as before, up to 50 minute delays and last minute cancellations, we are doing everything in our power to get services out of London Bridge, concourse is busy but not as bad as last night. A lot of people have stayed away from work today All stations are fully staffed in your areas to offer help and assistance where needed Regards Barry
  14. Good afternoon Apologies for delays today, this is a quick posting to inform you that Southern are experiencing severe delays and it is expected to get worse into the evening peak. Today we have had many many cancellations and delays of up to 90 minutes at London Bridge, this evening will not be any better I am afraid. Metro services are operating with delays up to 50 minutes at the moment We are unable to run between Crystal Palace and Beckenham Junction because of frozen points. We are running shuttle services between Tattenham Corner and Purley and Caterham and Purley. The shuttle service will depart Tattenham Corner at 32 minutes past the hour, with the return service departing Purley at 02 minutes past the hour. The Caterham service will depart Caterham at 52 minutes past the hour, with the return service departing Purley at 22 minutes past the hour. This may also be subject to delays. Gatwick Express services are suspended until further notice following the closure of Gatwick Airport. South West Trains, Southeastern, First Capital Connect, London Underground, TfL buses and London Tramlink are accepting Southern tickets on all reasonable routes. I will do what I can to update in another hour from now Barry Jones Area Manager Southern
  15. Hi I will send a manager up to investigate Barry

  17. One is still alive and fighting fit and doing lots behind the scenes.... someone told me about this thread so thought I better come in and say hello in case you thought I had disappeared I am still the area manager for Southern Railway looking after your stations Best wishes Barry
  18. Hi Can I please state that my decision has nothing to do with my company Again, I apologise for the loss of this thread Barry
  19. Hi First of all I would like to state that this forum has been very instrumental turning around my area, listening to you the passenger has certainly helped my team and I bringing this area of South London to what I call a healthy position. We have tackled the most simple of issues to some of the more complex, we have not always got it right but we listened. My staff are more engaged, the stations cleaner, brighter and fresher and in all honesty much healthier than 15 months ago when I first started the thread. Your kind comments, postings and private messages have certainly encouraged me to get the best for you the passenger and of course my staff. I have to state that some of your comments have been very humbling indeed and thank you all kindly for making me feel very welcome on the forum, I am pleased to see that others are now joining in, ie Mr Barber (Southwark) and the local police teams to name a couple. However, it is with deep regret to inform you that this will be my last posting on the Station Manager Corner and will be asking the administrator to close the thread. Please be assured that this has nothing to do with the EDF and if you remember my very first posting I stated that I do this in my own time and my comments were those of mine and not Southern's. For those issues outstanding, information screens at ED, screeching trains etc I will continue with those until they are completed. Again thank you for your support Best wishes Barry

  22. Hi ps - Help Ma Boab got the bus. WTF is all that about??? Now if it had been one of my trains he had travelled on I would have been impressed!! I would also like to state that my colleague abd I had a great day and thank you all for the warm response. Next year I will run the event in the "Fat Controllers" outfit.... just for the fun:)) SM Barry Jones
  23. Hi A little confused by the posting on a couple of points, the original shelters are still there so you wouldn't get wet, the additional one is on order so that would not make a difference due to the fact you have never had it and the 12 new benches are in place. I have been to ED to start checking the works and noticed they are all there The works will be finished this weekend, the contractors are slightly behind as they need to switch off the power to finish the trackside graffiti and white edges to platforms and only have a small window to complete these works Regards B Jones Area Station Manager Easties EL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's taking almost 3 weeks now to get those bloody > seats done. What happens if it rains tomorrow?
  24. Hi Sue Appreciate the comments and agree that real flowers do look better. These plastic flowers are not cheap and they are changed four times a year to match the season we are in. In all honesty they dont look that bad and do brighten the stations up Regards Barry Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry if this has already been raised - I don't > really want to trawl through 30 pages to find > out! > > I haven't used the train for a long time, but went > to London Bridge by train yesterday. 25. Hi I am not sure if the decorating team are using tape whilst doing the painting/refurb of station? I am at PMR tomorrow and will take a look Regards Barry OutOfFocus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Barry > Could someone remove the masking tape from > timetable boards at Peckham rye (platform 4 and > maybe elsewhere )
