Move to Guernsey. Apparently they don't have any squirrels on the island. Or is that one big urban myth that I've spent the past 15 years believing

I once told my sister that my cat had brought in a rather large mouse with a long tail. She kindly explained that it was probably a rat! At least it was whole and fresh and not in the fridge.

sarah you're not alone - Mr JB didn't realise it was lightning either- he thought it was an overactive speed camera!!

Or maybe Denise Van Outen now she's rumoured to have left capital

The soundtrack made me laugh - always been a bit of a secret Black Lace fan! -
What is the Difference between Australians/Kiwis actually?
jollybaby replied to jrussel's topic in The Lounge
I agree with Strawbs that a big reason for the communities not integrating more is fact that Australia is one enormous place and rightly or wrongly that allows aboriginal and non aboriginal groups to live quite separately. I used to work in accident and emergency in West Australia and a number of the kidney dialysis patients were aboriginal and had come from communities hundreds and hundreds of miles away for their treatment in Perth. Basically they had to make the decision whether to stay at home and slowly die of kidney failure or uproot and live in a city miles from family. Understandably coming to metropolitan Perth from outback Australia with no family/ friends/job and kidney failure is not a great situation and a large group used to spend their time asleep/and or drunk outside in the churchyard across the road from the hospital. If a patient didn't turn up for treatment they would send a nurse over the road to go and look for them. -
My best house party was when I was about 15. A group of sixth formers turned up, parked on my parents' front lawn and threw bottles over the wall smashing the next door neighbour's greenhouse. I was meant to be having a girls' only sleepover and was grounded for weeks!

So selling a house in 2008 is now comparable to facing death - maybe they should be offering counselling at Foxtons.

They certainly do still happen in ED. Our neighbour had one last night. Quite a grand one with lights and sound system in the garden. Must admit I haven't hosted one for a while apart from the impromptu post pub/dinner get together.

Proud Gardeners announce their new arrivals

Went on holiday for a week and boyfriend has managed to kill my herb windowbox- all lovingly grown from seed. He promised he watered them! Oh well back to the dried stuff. -
Excellent suggestion - a family vehicle too small for the family! Are you suggesting that Zephyr's partner should follow by bike if they ever need to go anywhere en groupe? Or perhaps stay at home and tend to the organic vegetables?

Okay so parking bit dealt with now onto the trains . . . service to London fine. You can get to Victoria, Blackfriars and London Bridge from Peckham Rye and to London Bridge from East Dulwich - all in about 10-15 mins.

If you're leaving before 8 it shouldn't take too long - about 30 mins - anytime after that can be a nightmare through camberwell.

the M&S rumour returns... yet again

Still wouln't mind one though - if just for their spicy lentil and tomato soup. -
My old uni housemate was so nice to everyone she used to attract all sorts of nutters. I can remember answering the phone at 2am to some random bloke she had met on the bus. Her optician then turned up on our doorstep - goodness I've just thought - do you think she was selling her body to fund her studies?!

Being scared. Silly isn't it.

Not sure about SE22 but to my surprise have had not one but two offers on my flat in Cardiff this week - both under asking price but not ridiculously so. I had just been getting it ready to rent out and now don't know what to do. The better offer is just above the threshold for me to cover my fees and make a teensy- weensy bit of profit but not sure I can face the hassle of/afford a sale falling through for the third time. Ho hum.

have a good night everyone -
Cassius - I sympathise with your plight - it sounds like you've had a pretty shoddy service from your practice and deserve an apology for your inconvenience. But Nero to say that doctors should be treated like other service professionals 'unless saving lives' is a little off the mark. Firstly a lot of the work does involve 'saving lives' whether directly by jumping on someones chest or indirectly by responding to a grossly abnormal blood result . You have to prioritise and sometimes the less urgent jobs do get pushed to the bottom of the list. Also a detailed explanation is not always possible in this business. I've had many a time when a patient has complained about being kept waiting and I've wished I could have turned around to them and said 'well actually it's because I've just had to tell the 25 year old patient before you that her breast cancer has spread to her brain ok- now let's get back to your haemorrhoids'. Don't get me wrong I am by no means a fan of the 'diagnosis by phone system', I hate crap service and disorganisation, poor communication but in medicine it's not always the doctor's fault - sometimes these pesky patients can be a little unpredictable.

Cat Epidemic (stop them going in my garden)
jollybaby replied to Mabel's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Problem is that cats are quite proud(and stubborn) and don't really like crapping in litter trays. They'd rather cross their paws and wait until their next outdoor adventure. -
Problems getting parcels delivered by royal mail
jollybaby replied to Sita's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Aah the joys of Silvester road sorting office. . . last time I was there the lady infront of me had to pick up a parcel that was supposedly 'too big for her letterbox' - it was about the size of the A4 envelope- so seems they hadn't even attempted to deliver that one. -
Live in East Dulwich and work in .....?????????
jollybaby replied to ratty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Have a very pleasant commute on the no 12 bus to St Thomas' hospital. Until a couple of months ago was commuting back and forth to Canterbury - not very nice. Was a angry wreck by the time I got to the south circular on the way home - so apologies to anyone who was beeped at or gesticulated at by a blue polo driver!! -
Looking forward to the interview 'task' next week - always one of the best episodes.
