I had a bad one last week. Went out for a few drinks with work and had a bit too much pinot grigio. Somehow missed peckham rye and ended up at Sydenham station. Got a taxi home but then couldn't find my doorkeys. Mobile out of charge. Flat doorbell not working. Burst into tears and ended up hammering on communal door until the poor woman in the ground floor flat came to let me in. God knows what she must had thought at the sight of me wailing, mascara down my cheeks, contents of my bag all over the doorstep. I think boyfriend was equally as bemused - particularly when he opened my bag and my keys were lying on the top! Oh dear.

My rice cooker- soggy rice a thing of the past. Easily pleased

I forgot and made huge mistake of of rushing to check out of B&B with enormous hangover - to be told could have spent an extra hour in cosy bed. I also missed the delicious breakfast - humphh

Now if I could turn back the clock by 3 days would I do anything differently - probably not (well perhaps maybe not write such a light hearted original post) He was clearly after a reaction and ignoring him seemed the better option at the time. And as I said before it didn't seem threatening but more cheeky at the time- far less degrading then when someone 'grinds' against you on the dance floor of a crowded night club (and I WOULD say something then). Does my lack of reaction mean that he is more or less likely to do it again - who can say. I think you could argue the case either way. Or is my response a sad indicament of the time we live in - when people no longer chastise wrong doing 'youths' for fear of being abused or because of a feeling that it won't make a blind bit of difference.

Can I confirm that 1) I am a woman and 2) no I didn't confront the boy. It was all over so quickly and by the time I really grasped what had happened I was a good few metres away from him down the road. I thought about turning round to say something but is seemed so innocent and unthreatening at the time. I have been in far more uncomfortable situations around ED in the past. When I say I felt chuffed - I didn't want to imply that I got some form of sexual gratification from the event or have any interest in teenage boys. It just seemed like a bit of a compliment - and I have been working hard to lose a few pounds! I agree it's not usual behaviour to slap stangers' bottoms in the street and perhaps I should have reacted more strongly to the event. That was in part why I posted on this forum as I was interested in other people's thoughts.

Was so unthreatening at the time. May have been a bit different if it was dark and he was taller than me!

I'd like to warn the people of East Dulwich that there is a bottom slapper on the loose. The perpetrator is around 14/15 and wears a rust coloured school uniform. Whilst walking along ED road this pm he approached me he said "nice bum" and then gave me a firm slap on my rump! Once I got over my initial shock I realised I was actually quite chuffed and this made my day. Is this wrong?!

Anyone doing the dulwich park 10k sunday?
jollybaby replied to mightyroar's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ouch ouch ouch. Survived the 1/2 mara in dismal weather. Was not the best 2 or so hours of my life. My tip applespider would be to turn round and go back to bed if the weather's like this again! No seriously I agree with Mightyroar - take it slowly- loads of people burn off at speed at the start and then are walking by half way. I did it the other way and even had a little left for a mini sprint finish at the end. Best of luck -
People going the wrong way round IKEA.

Anyone doing the dulwich park 10k sunday?
jollybaby replied to mightyroar's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No but I'm giving the 'run to the beat' London 1/2 marathon a go in aid of Marie Curie. Feeling a bit nervous now as my training schedule went slightly out the window . . . . -
Andyng - I just had a look into this and according to the BNF (the pharmaceutical reference book that we use in the NHS) the initial vaccination and the boosters are the same preparation/dose and so I don't see why you can't get both from your practice or a normal pharmacy

Wake up and smell the coffee!
jollybaby replied to thelittlecoffeevan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
According to their website they'll be serving "high quality freshly ground coffee from their award winning Fracino espresso machine". All the best guys - I'm nearly tempted to start using ED station rather than Peckham Rye.. -
Now what about Baltic by Southwark tube - I've always had fantastic food there and the vodka cocktails are divine.

dulwich picture gallery cafe - poor value?
jollybaby replied to alba's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Not much less than that! Muffin ?1.50 - Grande latte ?2.40 = ?3.90 if my memory serves me right. I'd rather have a Green and Blue carrot cake anyday -
Isn't moving flights to another airport a bit of a nimbyish answer to the problem- unless you can find an airport with approaches that don't go over any populated areas. I grew up in Kent and found that the aircraft noise was just as bad as anything I've noticed here courtesy of Gatwick airport.

Now what's with this keirin cycling when the riders follow a moped on the track for the first few laps - crazy stuff.

Strange man near the Peckham Rye Cafe / One o'clock club
jollybaby replied to jimbo1964's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There is nothing wrong with reporting someone if you feel uncomfortable with their behaviour. It's easy for us all to comment but none of us were actually there at the time. Jimbo's family clearly felt uneasy with this man's filming and so reported him. Whether you approach them I think depends very much on the situation ie I would probably be less likely to approach a dodgy looking bloke in a park than a 6ft man would. What is wrong is to do nothing at the time and then come back and post a detailed description of the person on a forum such as this. -
It must be the one around Peckham Rye that I went flying over mid jog the other day. A fine sight I was with blood on both knees and elbows- thanks to the people who stopped to check I was alive.

I think a no smoking clause will creep into council tenancy agreements over the next few years. It will be guised in a 'damage to property' rather than public health stance though the real aim will be the latter. It will of course be impossible to police and everyone will keep doing it anyway. It's true what Rico said about no one believing that a smoking ban in pubs would ever happen. I can remember writing an essay at school on this and we all decided that it would never ever happen in our lifetime! I also remember being stuck at the back of the plane with my smoking parents and am very glad that that came to an end.

It seemed pretty scary when I was 8! Was about a girl being abducted during an eclipse and coming back to haunt people whenever another one came along.

'Watcher in the woods' from the 80s - been terrified of eclipses ever since

Anyone been told the story about the snake owner whose friendly python went off his food. They then woke up to find the snake stretched out next to them on the bed - they mentioned it to the vet who told them they must get rid of it straight away as it was sizing them up for dinner . . . must have had that one at least 3 times now

First GB gold medal in the cycling hurrah! Well done to Nicole Cooke- it looked pretty hairy out there. I felt quite emotional watching the medals ceremony.
