Long haul holiday with formula fed baby - help
Sunlover00 replied to lulu's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Lulu I bought disposable sterile bottles (available in John Lweis) for planes and took a microwable sterilation bag (available in JoJos) to sterilise bottles provided you have access to microwave at your destination. I pre-ordered lots of ready made forumula from boots air-side and once passed security, I collected the cartons intended for times when we were on the move and wouldnt have access to boiling water to make milk up. Yes, it more hand luggage but for us it saved faffing around mixing on planes. Tip re: the disposable bottles - practise screwing the lid on otherwise it can leak if not fixed properly, and it can easily overheat so when warming up milk on plane, be mindful that it wont need very long to get to the desired temp. Good luck -

Can anyone suggest a good nanny tax company, with an indication of how much the fees are please? I'm planning to use a nanny for childcare and can't face doing the admin myself. Thanks.

Sunlover00 replied to Sunlover00's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Good points! Think I'll just relax and she'll take it from cups when shes ready :o) Shes always been a small baby so milk / food intake has always been on the forefront of my mind. -

Refusing to drink milk from cups
Sunlover00 replied to Sunlover00's topic in The Family Room Discussion
thanks both. I'll try uping her calcium in other ways. She's not a big fan of cheese just to make it even more interesting for me! should I continue offering milk in sippy cups, or should i continue offering milk in cups? I guess i want to aoid going back to sippy cups if she can drink from a cup for water -
Im trying to wean my LO off bottles and onto cups.. so far I've had zero success and have tried different cups, sippy cups, straw cups and at varying different temperatures. She has no prob drinking cows milk from a bottle but firmly rejects it she can see its milk in a cup. Funnily enough she can drink water from a cup fine. Does anyone have any great tips on getting getting LOs to accept cups of milk? I even tried giving her a cup of milk in the dark to try and trick her and nope........

how much to pay for babysitting?

Its no different from dropping kids off with family for a few hrs if you had any around you. The only difference that you have to pay for the childcare -
Found another thread with the info now

That's nature. So pray tell, where would one find these "good feral cats" that would be vegetarian and partake in a spot of chess for leisure and not chasing down smaller prey? Why even mention cats specifically what's your point? > > This is a debate about domesticated animals > killing other domesticated animals. And even domesticated animals still have natural instincts. > > Totally agree with you Rosie. DKQ- Using your same logic in an earlier post, if there are less cats roaming without any controls then less cats will be hurt either by other animals or cars.

For a debate, there needs to be an opposing view and I don't see anywhere in Rosie's post that she was in anyway supporting that particular dog owners actions. There are questions being posed and discussed all throughout this thread re merits of compulsory dog muzzling, leads in/outside parks etc but as soon as anyone raises a point about cats it's shot down. You're right. It's not a cat vs dog debate. Don't make it out that there is one.

It's not really a seperate issue. Yes cats are unlikely to harm people but in terms of their own safety then yes it is a very valid point to keep cats indoors or have tighter controls. By no means am I implying steph 'asked' for this awful attack to happen.

Parents from SE Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei etc)
Sunlover00 replied to KatsuQueen's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have a bi lingual (kind of) household too. I try to speak a little Cantonese to the little one but English tends to dominate. I've been looking for Cantonese / Hakka playgroups to try and increase exposure to this language. Maybe if there's interest we can arrange a play date so babies can pick up some stuff from us collectively?? -
Hi I've found the nanny I want and hopefully I'll have found a family to do a nanny share with too. So just need to start thinking about the formalities of the share arrangement - does anyone have a template contract they would be willing to share with me (omitting any personal info of course :o) ) that covers 2 families and a nanny? We'll be sharing the same number of days so hopefully that should make it more straightforward Thx!
