  1. hi mum2besoon Based on my LMP, my due dates were just over a week earlier than my EDD based on gestational size. Given both dates involve some element of guesswork, I wouldn't worry too much about them. Ive been told first time mums are usually late anyways... i've added you to email list. There's usually a weekly tues meet up at Actress around 7.30-8pm and those who can make it, just turn up. There's also a one off catch up on bank holiday Mon 29th Aug at 12pm at Green & Blue hope to see you soon! xx

  4. Just thought i'd let everyone know that Kings run a free "Expectant Fathers" course - Think its along the lines of a standard antenatal class but tailored to men. Here's some blurb they sent to me: What are the courses aims? To build new fathers confidence generally, but particularly in terms of their role, their skills and their ability to support their partner and baby To increase information, so that new fathers engage more actively in the pregnancy and understand that they have an important role to play To support fathers to learn the practical skills they will need with their babies, to enable them to be competent and confident fathers http://www.workingwithmen.org My partner hasnt attended this yet so can't give any feedback I'm afriad. I've heard the funding to run this course is being cut after/from Sept. We're also attendign NCT next month! Phew - its a busy time. Best email [email protected] if you're interested.
  5. Glad you all had a lovely time and I'm gutted I wasnt able to make it. anyway, hope to come along to 2nd aug x

Probably best to call Megan (Megano is the user id) - her number is on one of the earlier posts. Have a lovely afternoon all! x
  7. I used to be registered with Melbourne Grove but have had several terrible experiences with them and to top it off, the receptionists are rude. I've since switched to DMC and have no complaints with them so far.
  8. Really awful to hear about the poor cat, we have two lovely jack russell shih tzu cross dogs that often get confused with the two alleged attackers as we also frequent goose green. we sometimes talk to the guy that people are suggesting and we will ask him about it. We always walk our dogs on leashes until they hit the park as i wouldn't be surprised if they chased a cat out of instinct but im pretty sure they are not cat killers as they have lived with cats before. anyway please don't confuse my wee dogs as the culprits we are as shocked as anyone by the very sad post,
  9. Hi all, hope everyone is feeling great and doing really well. Luckily my nausea and tiredness seems to have gone for now and I've been acting like a woman possessed trying to get stuff organised. That said, I haven't even tackled the question on which buggy to get - a minefield I'm delaying for as late as possible. There's quite a lot of threads on EDF so I'm sure I'll be trawling through that in a few months.... Back to important business...picnic on 17th July - people have been sending me their email addresses which is great. I'll get an email out in a few weeks so we can start organising this. Enjoy the bank holiday weekend (fingers crossed for some nice weather!) xx
  10. Fortunately, we'll be staying with family for the whole stay so plenty of aunties, uncles etc to look after baby. I would hope my partner will be doing a lot as well and not heading straight for the BBQ/beach!
  11. That's brillant. Thanks for all your experiences and advice! Feel reassured it's possible with a young baby, so the only question is whether I will feel up to it.
  12. Hi there We're considering flying to Oz xmas this year and our baby will probably be only 6-8 weeks old. I'm worried that this is too ambitous for baby / me/ us. Don't know what state I'll be in to fly after the birth, and whether flying such a long way with the changes in time zones would affect the baby's routine (assuming there is one at that stage!). Would you recommend a overnight stopover on the way, or is it better to get it over and done with asap? Any advice would be great Thanks
  13. Been careless had either lost my BB or had it stolen while waiting for the 185 at Denmark Hill today around 15:45-1600. If you come across a Blackberry Bold, please PM me Don't hold much hope anyways.. thanks
  14. Hey ladies, there some new pregnancy yoga classes starting up in ED that I'm tempted to try out. Anyone else fancy it? http://www.stillspaceyoga.co.uk/
  15. Oh dear, I was kinda hoping there would be a raft of posts reassuring me it's not that bad. :-S
  16. Hey Stawbs, of course. I'll add you to the dist. list. I'm at Kings though...
  17. I'm due with our first in Oct and my partner stumbled across this during his research into "what to expect..". It did crack us up so thought it's worth sharing with any expecting parents... FOLLOW THESE 14 SIMPLE TESTS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO HAVE CHILDREN. Test 1 - Preparation Women: To prepare for pregnancy:- 1. Put on a dressing gown and stick a beanbag down the front. 2. Leave it there. 3. After 9 months remove 5% of the beans. Men: To prepare for children:- 1. Go to a local chemist, tip the contents of your wallet onto the counter and tell the pharmacist to help himself 2. Go to the supermarket. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office. 3. Go home. Pick up the newspaper and read it for the last time. Test 2 - Knowledge Find a couple who are already parents and berate them about their methods of discipline, lack of patience, appallingly low tolerance levels and how they have allowed their children to run wild. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's sleeping habits, toilet training, table manners and overall behaviour. Enjoy it. It will be the last time in your life that you will have all the answers.. Test 3 - Nights To discover how the nights will feel: 1. Walk around the living room from 5pm to 10pm carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 4 - 6kg, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. 2. At 10pm, put the bag down, set the alarm for midnight and go to sleep. 3. Get up at 11pm and walk the bag around the living room until 1am. 4. Set the alarm for 3am. 5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2am and make a cup of tea. 6. Go to bed at 2.45am. 7. Get up again at 3am when the alarm goes off. 8. Sing songs in the dark until 4am. 9. Put the alarm on for 5am. Get up when it goes off. 10. Make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years. LOOK CHEERFUL. Test 4 - Dressing Small Children 1. Buy a live octopus and a string bag. 2. Attempt to put the octopus into the string bag so that no arms hang out. Time Allowed: 5 minutes. Test 5 - Cars 1. Forget the BMW. Buy a practical 5-door wagon. 2. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there. 3. Get a coin. Insert it into the CD player. 4. Take a box of chocolate biscuits; mash them into the back seat. 5. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car. Test 6 - Going For a Walk Wait. Go out the front door. Come back in again. Go out. Come back in again. Go out again. Walk down the front path. Walk back up it. Walk down it again. Walk very slowly down the road for five minutes. Stop, inspect minutely and ask at least 6 questions about every piece of used chewing gum, dirty tissue and dead insect along the way. Retrace your steps. Scream that you have had as much as you can stand until the neighbours come out and stare at you. Give up and go back into the house. You are now just about ready to try taking a small child for a walk. Test 7 - Communication Repeat everything you say at least 5 times. Test 8 - Grocery Shopping 1. Go to the local supermarket. Take with you the nearest thing you can find to a pre-school child - a fully grown goat is excellent. If you intend to have more than one child, take more than one goat. 2. Buy your weekly groceries without letting the goat(s) out of your sight. 3. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children. Test 9 - Feeding a 1 year-old 1. Hollow out a melon 2. Make a small hole in the side 3. Suspend the melon from the ceiling and swing it side to side 4. Now get a bowl of soggy cornflakes and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon while pretending to be an aeroplane. 5. Continue until half the cornflakes are gone. 6. Tip the rest into your lap, making sure that a lot of it falls on the floor. Test 10 - TV 1. Learn the names of every character from Peppa Pig, Thomas the Tank Engine,Dora the Explorer and Disney. 2. Watch nothing else on television for at least 5 years. Test 11 - Mess Can you stand the mess children make? To find out: 1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains 2. Hide a fish behind the stereo and leave it there all summer. 3. Stick your fingers in the flowerbeds and then rub them on clean walls. Cover the stains with crayon. How does that look? 4. Empty every drawer/cupboard/storage box in your house onto the floor & leave it there. Test 12 - Long Trips with Toddlers 1. Make a recording of someone shouting 'Mummy' repeatedly. Important Notes: No more than a 4 second delay between each Mummy. Include occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet. 2. Play this tape in your car, everywhere you go for the next 4 years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler. Test 13 - Conversations 1. Start talking to an adult of your choice. 2.. Have someone else continually tug on your shirt hem or shirt sleeve while playing the Mummy tape listed above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room. Test 14 - Getting ready for work 1. Pick a day on which you have an important meeting. 2. Put on your finest work attire. 3. Take a cup of cream and put 1 cup of lemon juice in it 4.. Stir 5. Dump half of it on your nice silk shirt 6. Saturate a towel with the other half of the mixture 7. Attempt to clean your shirt with the same saturated towel 8. Do not change (you have no time). 9. Go directly to work You are now ready to have children. ENJOY!!
  18. Great - my email is [email protected] I'll start an email distrin=bution list so if you're interested in deatils closer the time (prob mid/end June) if you give me your email, I can make sure you're included in the emails. We'll post details on EDF also for any last minute shows. Enjoy the rest of the bank holidays, everyone. x
  19. 17th July gets my vote, and from all the posts so far, I think everyone who has expressed an interest can also do this. :)) Frankie - yes, of course, it's open to everyone. Look forward to seeing you there. Do we all want to swop email addresses to organise the details nearer the time?
  20. Hmm 26th June is my birthday and I know my partner is planning to take me away (he's not so good at keeping surprises from me :o) ) so this date will not be any good for me. I can do any others though... 17th July?
  21. Great stuff Megano :) How about one Sunday during June/July? That should give people plenty of notice. We can make it kid friendly so those with babies/toddlers can come along too. How about Dulwich park? Unless anyone else has better ideas for a more suitable location?
  22. Coffee and cake sounds great! Or while the sun is out, maybe we can organise a picnic. Anyone wanna help organise this? I do love a picnic.... I'm due mid oct with my first :)
  23. If you email this address and book an appointment, they will come out with property marking kits and locks...... [email protected]
