  1. > > As usual - threads on edf turning into > bitch-fests. Attaboy(/girl} SunLover! Ffs So I found the post amusing. Kill me. If EDF wasn't entertaining or interesting then we wouldn't be on here. Let's all talk about really dull stuff like cats..... Oh

How about you go and contemplate these "more important things" rather than bother yourself with pushing the whole pro cat campaign? Find it odd when people are compelled to join a discussion which is clearly very minor in the big scheme of things then say its pointless. If you haven't noticed, it's not mandatory to contribute.

So cats can crap anywhere they like so long as they dig the hell out of gardens to bury it?? This is turning into something off the Discovery channel. Cats roam because owners allow them to roam - the point is that this can be controlled to a poiny by some owners. Just like dog owners can control their dogs.

DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------ > it seems ridiculous to me to suggest it > should not be allowed to go if it wants to I don't see why suggesting cat owners keeping their pets in at night is such an absurb idea. The fact is that dogs aren't given the same privilege to go out as they choose, whenever they want. It's not about cats being "secondary" before Andy just in again - quite the contrary for the point I've just made. Cats can be trained - I've had cats and I had trained them to come home to certain sounds (rustling of their food bag eg) if they nearby. What is annoying is seeing my neighbours cat given access to outside thro a open window 24/7 and in the middle of the night, cat sits outside the window on tge fence winding up my dogs. Not suggesting cats are kept in allllll day - just at night.

  7. Don't bother posting a pointless comment on a pointless thread then no?
  8. Oh and Andy, I don't think having a cat litter tray would invoke the RSPCA's interest for infringement of cat rights otherwise Pets@Home wouldnt be selling them
  9. Hmmm, Andy where did I state cats were secondary? OTT perhaps? It's natural instinct for dogs to chase after anything moving e.g. cats etc but we as responsible dog owners put leads on them. Funny enough, they aren't born with leads.
  10. I'm sure there was a thread on this not too long ago but couldnt find it so here goes... We have dogs and before we go to bed, we lock the dogs in so they dont get up to no good in the back garden, wake up neighbours etc. However, they still end up barking in the middle of the night because cats that live near us are allowed to roam all through the night and have a good walkaround in our garden which agitates our dogs. I appreciate that you can't harness a cat and take them for walks but I'm sure there could be improved effort to keep them in at night
  11. Sorry for diverting from the original post but thought there's so many freelance mums here That I'd ask the question that I'm struggling with - how do you all manage freelancing with reliable but flexible childcare?? We don't have family network to rely on and don't want to burden friends (all have jobs/lives/kids of their own). I'm going to be back working for part of week and altho I'll be wfh, in someways that's irrelevant because gone are the days when wfh would involve checking emails now and again. So I need to plan that I'll be working for full days but there might be occasional need to go into office and work late, or take calls on the other days - all of which I can't see me being able to do and look after my daughter. I'm looking at nannies but it's starting to get me down because I'm just coming to terms of leaving her with someone and feeling pressure with a new job - so already feel I need to compensate part time hrs by working all week anyway. Not sure if this makes sense - hardly stopped this weekend so I'm tired mentally from having all this swimming around my head! Anyone have any suggestions / experience on how to achieve a balance of flexible childcare and freelancing?
  12. Sorry it's a big thumbs down for dulwich cars. First time we asked for a car seat, driver pitched up without one and we had to use ours otherwise we'd be late for flight (driver then had to return our car seat later). Second time we used them, driver forgot where he put his car at heathrow so we(plus 4 month old) had to wait an hour before he found his car. Third time we used them, the driver turned up at heathrow without car seat fitted and asked me to fit it even though I've never used that type of car seat, had no instructions how to fit. Driver was also clueless so he had to call the office and got instructions over the phone - all after a long haul flight. Fun times.
  13. Thanks busymum although laptop problems wouldn't explain the lack of phone contact. I've had a few messages that seem to indicate that it's a common experience. A friend informed me that it doesnt matter when you put your name down as other factors determine priority. Wish I was told this at the time of registering!
  14. I've been trying for the last three weeks to get in contact with Caroline, manager of Little Jungle nursery without any success. I have emailed and spoken to a number of her staff but still no returned phonecall. Anyone having similiar problems getting through?? There hasn't been even an acknowledment to my messages and all I want to do is find out what the status is re the waiting lists. Sorry for the rant. Just very frustrated Ive paid my ?30 to be added and now feel I should have just spent it on a nice pub lunch!

  16. My partner and I are keen for sat 10 am sessions. We'll have a pushchair too but we won't be able to start until late April. Hope that's not too late?
  17. That's brilliant - thanks for all the advice everyone, really appreciate it! My other half will think I'm a genius when I look super organised and brilliant for thinking of every scenario ;0)
  18. I think I'll need to get a transport bag since we're flying long haul in a couple of months. Would the bugaboo transport bag also fit the carrycot, or is it just meant for the frame? From the pics it doesn't look like I could cram the carrycot in it too
  19. Hi We're taking a short flight from gatwick this week and I want to take the carrycot since my baby uses this for naps during day. Has anyone had any issues taking this bit of the pram on flights? Worried it'll get wrecked or the airline want to charge extra since it doesn't collapse down like the chassis.
  20. Thanx for all the great tips everyone. Our baby will be 5 months by the time we fly. I'm sure the trip won't be as bad as I think but just sometimes, images that I will end up being the 'parent with screaming child' on a long flight slips into my mind. But with all this info now, I'm feeling much more Confident that feeding at least won't be an issue. I'm Breastfeeding but I top up with formula at end of day when milk supply is a lower so hopefully I won't need too many cartons. My baby tends to sleep shorter naps if there's quite a lot of light so I think I'll have to bring a snooze shade to drape over the bassinet. Think she's too nosy to sleep when she can see people and shapes!
  21. Thanks beany! All really useful info. Will Definately go for the carton option and bottle warmer. Can I ask if you felt the bassinets were decent enough, or do you think I should bring a sheepskin liner for example to make it cosy? Can't believe heathrow are so strict - 50 percent is a lot to be tasting! I think I'll have to bring extra just in case they insist
  22. I Read somewhere that 'snackers' tend to get more gassy because of too much fore milk. Are her poo's frothy? If so, this is an indication of the imbalance and as fore milk is not filling babies get hungry faster so it's a vicious circle
  23. Hi We're travelling to oz with Singapore airlines in march and trying to be prepared to avoid a bad trip with our young baby, so we're trying to crack the feeding Aspect. Does anyone have any tips on how to manage bottle sterilising/making/feeding at airports and on board during flights? Thanx!
  24. I moved to DMC as soon as I found out I was pregnant to increase my chances to get onto the Lanes waiting list but wasn't successful. I did manage to get on with Oakwood midwives though who are brilliant so maybe just give them a call and register rather than move surgeries. Remember that you'll still need to easily get to your GP surgery so maybe bear that in mind if you decide to change.
