There is a perception that petty officialdom is being practised out of spite. Whether that is the case or not I don?t know. I?ve read of a consignment of carrots taking 8 days to clear customs and fish being turned away because the paperwork was completed on the wrong coloured form. Such stories might not be true or the full facts not disclosed. Whatever the truth I suspect the EU will need to relax the rules. And given that the Irish Republic was kicked in the goolies by an EU jackboot last Friday Brussels needs to be very careful.
-
Agreed. The EU did a great job tying the Brexit talks down over the border but if they?re not careful it might blow up in their face.
-
It is getting ugly unfortunately. While I have a certain sympathy with the EU regarding the contractual dispute it seems clear that the hostility and aggression coming from the EU is because the bureaucrats are fighting for their miserable political lives. Frexit? Nexit? Italexit?

Has Kamala taken over yet?

The term vegan butchers always makes me smile. I wonder how healthy a vegan butcher?s dog looks?

That is of course a possibility DR And yes Blah Blah, it is a mess. It didn?t help of course that some states were changing the rules during the election for when postal ballots could be received but that might have been justified with Covid.

By the way, I see the ?stolen? lectern was ?found? and used by Nancy yesterday.

... I asked the question because you seem to be under the illusion that the flack faced by Trump was any different to any President before him. It isn't... I?m not sure about that Blah Blah ... But after treating Pence like a doormat throughout his presidency Trump then cast him aside and almost got him killed... Nonsense JohnL.
-
..Keano, do you really think Trump is the only president that has struggles in the Senate and Congress?... No. Why do you ask me that question? I never suggested he was
-
I?m not trying to insult you I just think you are getting a bit carried away which is perhaps understandable given the media hysteria. I can see why people call the Nazi concentration camps evil, or Pol Pot?s killing fields in Cambodia and many other examples of genocide worldwide. I fail to understand how anyone can call Trump evil because they might not like him or agree with him.
-
Evil? How silly
-
...However many people voted for Trump does not legitimise him or what he stands for, nor their own beliefs. Evil doesn?t become good, just because a number of people want it... I?m not quite sure what your point is here KK and I?m sure you don?t mean to say he?s evil. My point was his votes show a lot of support for him.
-
There is a major problem over there KK and my point about Pelosi/the Democrats is that they are as guilty of fanning the flames over the division in America as Trump. For example, this new attempt to impeach Trump will only add fuel to the fire. It?s vexatious, it is highly unlikely to succeed and the ulterior motive is to stop Trump ever running for President again. More than 74 million people voted for Trump in the election, the most votes for a Republican candidate in history and the most votes for a losing presidential candidate I think I?m right in saying. Trump is no angel but I?ve watched for the last 5 or 6 years where ?liberal? forces have done their best to not only undermine Trump at every stage but to try to destroy the man. Biden (or perhaps Kamala) has a tough job ahead to bring the country together and there are plenty of rotten apples in the Democratic Party that need to be jettisoned.

Posted by Blah Blah Today, 12:22AM ...There was no doubt around the guy that took the speaker's podium. He was photographed carrying it in the Capitol Building and he put it on Ebay. He is a carpenter by trade apparently. Clearly valued the cut of the woodwork lol... I understand there is doubt whether he actually stole the lectern. He is supposed to have denied he took it out of the building on CNN but I can?t view the interview for geographic reasons. The following is interesting https://www.ibtimes.sg/was-nancy-pelosis-podium-listed-ebay-after-being-stolen-capitol-54737 ...It is also possible that the listing and sale of the object was made as a joke. The image of the lectern used in the listing was a Getty Images photo from Sept. 24, 2019, when Pelosi announced the formal impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump. So, while it appears that the listing of the lectern was genuine, it is unclear whether the actual congressional item was sold, or if it had ever left the Capitol building to begin with... Moral of the story is things are not always as they seem.

I?m just making a general point and as you say identify and prosecute and let the juries decide on the facts. There?s a lot of hysteria in the media, US media in particular, fanned by Miss Pelosi with words like coup, sedition and insurrection flying around like confetti. Time for cool heads to prevail.

Whatever happened to Alleged Innocent until proven guilty etc Or doesn?t that apply in our confused world anymore?

Fair point KK. How about Nancy Pelosi is just as guilty as Trump for what happened on Capitol Hill Discuss

The idea that my Y-fronts would need to appear on a customs declaration because Northern Ireland is continuing to enforce EU customs rules at its ports. Has the EU really not got anything better to do?

No Sephiroth I?d like more information please about customs declarations if moving to NI. Do you have any references?
-
if you as a family move from London to Belfast you now require customs declarations (to move within the United Kingdom) Do you mean for their possessions? And would this apply for the Republic of Ireland (and indeed other EU countries)?

A headless chicken can run around for a short time after being decapitated. Similarly venomous snakes can still bite after death. It?s something to do with the nervous system pre-programmed to make certain movements without the brain needing to send a signal. If you get my drift.
