  1. Oh for the days when postmen/women were seen on your street posting letters through people?s doors. Do they still exist?
  2. He?s upsetting an awful number of EU lorry drivers who would like to be home for Christmas. So much for EU unity.
  3. It?s not our borders that are the problem. Macron playing silly buggers because his presidency is shaky and he?s hoping for re-election is inconveniencing many EU lorry drivers not to mention French exporters. Silly billy Emmanuel Jean-Michel Fr?d?ric
  4. Post-Brexit trade deal won?t happen unless UK respects EU sovereignty, warns Michel Barnier https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/ireland/post-brexit-trade-deal-wont-happen-unless-uk-respects-eu-sovereignty-warns-michel-barnier-stmqpdxfm Strange how this fundamental concept of political theory keeps popping up considering how foolishly some people on here dismiss it as being outmoded. I wonder what President Xi, for example, would think of those who say there?s no place for sovereignty in an world inter-connected by trade?
  5. Ok But lighten up folks. There?s nothing but doom and gloom above. There?s an exciting future ahead. AI, genetic breakthroughs to revolutionise medicine, quantum computing, flying taxis etc etc The EU is aware of all this of course which is why it?s crapping it?s pants that a liberated and unfettered UK will leave them standing. Hence It?s insistence on a level play field.
  6. You asked for one thing that I expect to be better for me personally and I did you the courtesy of providing you with one thing. I make no apology if you?re not happy with that example.
  7. ...It is not childish to ask those who voted leave to cite one thing they expect to be better for them personally... Here?s one. I won?t be asked to vote in EU elections using some absurd voting system to elect some glorified councillor who didn?t stand a hope in hell of being elected to Parliament and who will waste our taxes introducing regulations similar to wonky bananas needing to be horse-shoe shaped. Not that I ever remember voting in an EU election. Here?s a smiley 🙂
  8. Automated Reply: Keano is unavailable for comment at the moment as he is taking his last few sackfuls of Biden votes down to Peckham sorting office.
  9. It?s a shame to see all those people refusing to accept the result of a democratic vote. I realise that on the popular vote Biden has only polled just over 50% and some people would say that isn?t a majority and definitely not a people?s vote, will of the people etc. Perhaps they think the voters for Biden were lied to, didn?t know what they were voting for and so on.
  10. The posts above don?t make sense to me. How would either course of action benefit a purchaser?
  11. No problem of valuing people. But aren?t we about to introduce laws that company boards must comprise x% of this that and the other, universities must accept ... and so on. In short, there?s a danger that social engineering could be inherently racist in itself.
  12. ?... It might be better if companies actually bit the bullet and just employed and promoted more BAME staff...? But isn?t there a potential contradiction here - sort of conscious bias? That is, isn?t positive discrimination in itself racist - you can?t break through on your own so WE will give you a helping hand.
  13. ? Don?t ask working-class boys to apologise for ?white privilege?, experts warn? https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/dont-ask-working-class-boys-to-apologise-for-white-privilege-experts-warn-hw6g7kn70
  14. Yes, good point KK. If it had been tiled and grouted then the lines would be raised. Obviously an attempt to be decorative. I wonder though if it would have worked as a non-slip measure rather than leaving it as a rougher, tamped finish.
  15. I suspect it was the base for a Victorian tiled pathway. The lines show the outline of the tiling. Not many such pathways left unfortunately. Some nice ones on Eynella Rd by the library as you walk down to the park
  16. Big subject malumbu, and very topical. The problem I?ve got is the word ?racist? is in danger of becoming meaningless - generally used as an insult these days as a number of the threads on here show. It?s confusing. For example people are accused of being racist if they attack/disagree with Muslim beliefs/practises But Islam is a religion, not a race. So is Judaism, although it?s clearer if somebody is being anti-Jewish. Do the ?unconscious bias? trainers actually have a working definition of ?racism??

  19. Posted by sanda Today, 09:18PM ...I don't see the life threatening levels of pollution on Court Lane now... I think we need to keep things in perspective.

  22. 😇
  23. I?d love to engage Sephiroth but unfortunately some people are a bit sensitive and accuse me of trolling. So I?ll confine myself to the odd smiley, or thumps up or down emoji from now on.

I?m saying UK goods going from NI to RoI should be waved through given our superior standards.
