  1. Well I?m sure people are aware of it somewhere in the back of their consciousness? but not sure why it isn?t just the obvious reason why people in Britain would start to make the change from the using the term Indian to using the term Asian. Can?t blame me for getting frustrated when peoples? view points are so frustratingly insular that they genuinely don?t even know the distinction between Britain and the UK.
  2. Well I for one want a national fucking holiday! And maybe some paella.
  3. Ermmmm?. Are none of you aware of one of the most significant post colonial events to have happened last century, the formation of the state of Pakistan? Areas which became Pakistan in 1957 (?) used to be part of British India. The people from these areas were therefore all colloquially known as Indian but folks slowly started to realise that referring to them as such was in fact incorrect. So the collective became Asian. Funnily enough the colloquialism ?Asian? is still incorrect. As in Britain it refers to people from the Indian sub-continent, Sri Lanka etc. and sometimes even Asia Minor. However Oriental people, the Mongolians and the many peoples of Serbia are also technically Asian. Simples no?
  4. What about unfounded, indignant generalisations? They seem to be about as East Dulwich specific as anything else.
  5. Wh**sh.
  6. Were any of them Jedis? There are nearly 50 000 of them living amongst us by my calculations.
  7. 93% of people polled also think that Klingon should be recognised as an official language.* 1.5% of New Zealanders are also Jedis as opposed to only 0.79% of Brits. *Granted the poll took place in a comic book shop in the Bloomsbury and the sample group consisted of the shop assistant and his cat.
  8. As disturbing as that image is I?m much more concerned by the duplicity in Honaloochie?s assertions of agreeability.
  9. I've replied here Sean: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,49738,343042,page=24#msg-343042 as I know you don't like things getting untidy.
  10. I reply to Sean's question on another thread. Specifically, NoFX ? Souldoubt, on medium. I can complete it but I?m trying to get the riff perfect before I move on to hard and it?s frustrating the hell out of me. Also Pretty Vacant is fucking hard on it and in real life a quadriplegic donkey could play it blindfolded. I?ve been tempted by the drums but not got them yet. Not sure if they would be allowed. La cassa B is already littered with about as many guitars, skateboards and other toys as one good natured wife could possibly be asked to tolerate.
  11. I don?t think you are.
  12. Songs that are actually relatively easy to play on the guitar but are nigh on im-bastard-possible to get right on Guitar bastard Hero.
  13. It?s those stupid red pyjamas they make them wear.
  14. Best get rid of them now before they evolve opposable thumbs ?cos then we will be really screwed.
  15. Is a depth charge a cocktail? What about Snakebite and black? Guinness and Tia Maria? WKD and Chlamydia?
  16. I have a dreaded feeling that we?re only about 2 posts away from someone using the words ?pork? and ?rim? in the same sentence.
  17. So best ? No, no! I?m not going to go there.
  18. If there?s a niche someone will find ?ey.
  19. Day after day ? the Stevie Wonderfuls
  20. How about a scotch egg made with a cream egg instead of a real egg and scotch instead of pork?
  21. Actually cream egg goes quite nicely with Jack Daniels. Scotch egg not so much. Although Scotch and an egg maybe is you?re into that sort of things but maybe not a cream egg or a scotch egg for that matter. Are we clear?
  22. I recent accidentally booked out train tickets home from Manchester for the wrong month (not my finest hour) Had to buy tickets on the day from the station for ?160 a go. I could have flown to New York for that.
  23. Well there are a few points. 1 - Will life on earth care in the long run? No probably not. It will carry on and evolve new species long after other (like ourselves) have become extinct. We are pretty good at killing things but not that good. 2 - Should we only protect the species that we need? Well no, the thing with eco systems is that they are systems and hugely complicated at that. No species exists in isolation and if one goes there will always be a knock on effect on others. 3 ? Should it matter to us as people? Well should and shouldn?t are difficult terms to pin down. But on the emotive human side of it I think most people want to maintain as much of the natural world as possible. Because it?s nice and nice is important.
  24. Mockney, the British tactics used to end the Boer war were a direct attempt to eradicate the Boer people and their culture by destroying the lands, social and political structure. The mass deaths in the concentration camps were only part of this. But please let?s not get into this on a Friday. It?s far, far too depressing.
  25. Anyway I?m not trying specifically to have a go at the British Army or anything. 2 of my great grnadfathers were officers. I?m glad they played the part they did in winning WW2. I definitely wouldn?t have wanted it the other way. I was just playing on the irony that someone who helped beat the Nazis was persecuted by peculiarly Nazi like laws in his own country.
