Ermmmm?. Are none of you aware of one of the most significant post colonial events to have happened last century, the formation of the state of Pakistan? Areas which became Pakistan in 1957 (?) used to be part of British India. The people from these areas were therefore all colloquially known as Indian but folks slowly started to realise that referring to them as such was in fact incorrect. So the collective became Asian. Funnily enough the colloquialism ?Asian? is still incorrect. As in Britain it refers to people from the Indian sub-continent, Sri Lanka etc. and sometimes even Asia Minor. However Oriental people, the Mongolians and the many peoples of Serbia are also technically Asian. Simples no?
