  1. I'd try the Dulwich Village or "North Dulwich Triangle" forums for more local knowledge but I don't think those areas compare to Abeville Road at all. It will be quite a different lifestyle.
  2. What about the places they go to after 11 as it is? I think a lot of the reticence will stem from the fact that someone turning 18 now will ha e loads of school mates who are still only 17 and the liability for serving underage people is huge, plus the loss of profit selling mostly only soft drinks makes 18th birthdays a hard sell in pubs / clubs.
  3. Have had a prompt reply from Mr McAsh. The documents are available here... https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=8364
  4. Thanks, will let you know how I get on.
  5. Does anyone have the councillors email addresses please? I will email them this afternoon asking if the new CPZ has been agreed for Melbourne Grove, when that decision was taken and where the consultation documents and other papers can be found. I will then post any replies I get on this thread.
  6. This is a huge part of the problem. Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country. There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
  7. The curbs, that stop cars driving over the pavement, have also been removed on that junction. The whole junction is very badly designed.
  8. do you believe they would send an honest reply?
  9. It would be fine if they stayed in lane and obeyed the highway code. As it is, there are far too many putting themselves in danger breaking the law, which is unbelievably selfish.
  10. Lower road is awful. Cyclists in the cycling lane ignoring traffic lights cutting across both lanes of motor vehicles. Cyclists not in the cycling lane, not queuing with the traffic for traffic lights, and so being forced to overtake stationary cars in the now too narrow lanes by cycling on the wrong side of the road, into oncoming traffic. It's a very poorly designed scheme that clearly took zero account of the way cyclists actually behave.
  11. I've ridden them before. Took one to Dulwich Village once and couldn't park it. The designated parking bay on Pickwick Road was completely full and I couldn't end the ride. So I had to go back up to Herne Hill. would not recommend lime biking to Dulwich Village.
  12. I'm guessing "ASB" excludes cyclists jumping red lights.
  13. They are being taxed into oblivion. a lot of them, previously fully subscribed (we'll call you, don't call us) are no advertising desperately for new pupils, even paying for those bulk junk mail drops.
  14. This thread should be updated with a new title. "Is Keith Starmer Toast?" I would say yes. This is as bad as when Boris Johnson ignored Chris Pincher's behaviour. And Starmer piled in very heavily on Johnson for that. If he doesn't resign himself now he is an enormous hypocrite and this will be very damaging indeed.
  15. I've only ever had this problem in dulwich village. It was the same for Forest too.
  16. There are a few parking bays where you can leave Lime and Forest bikes (one at the velodrome although it's well hidden) but most of Dulwich Village is geo fenced to avoid upsetting the isolationist (but pro cycling, lol) residents.
  17. Some how our antisocial Nimby neighbours in Dulwich village have made themselves a Lime free zone. You can't end your ride there at all.
  18. "2.2.1 The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has undertaken a comprehensive consultation process with its residents and stakeholders regarding the proposed development which aims to create 41 additional units and has been designed to address the growing demand for accessible and supportive accommodation for individuals with visual impairments. 2.2.2 The consultation process has been a key part of the planning phase, ensuring that the needs and preferences of current residents are taken into account. RNIB has held several meetings, workshops, and surveys to gather feedback on the design, facilities, and overall impact of the new development. Residents have been encouraged to share their views on various aspects, including accessibility features, communal spaces, and the integration of the new blocks with the existing infrastructure which has directly informed the proposals. 2.2.3 The Applicant also engaged with the local MP, Helen Hayes, and a couple of local councillors at the behest of RNIB tenants to provide new homes to promote independent living for its Blind and Partially Sighted residents" Seems like a very sensible and necessary proposal to me.
  19. This a forum about East Dulwich, in Southwark.
  20. If they really were designed nearly half a century ago its probably worth revisiting the design. 1960s/70s vehicles were much much smaller and lower to the ground than today's cars. They also didn't have the enormous pillars and crumble zones that modern cars have had built in under EU law to protect cyclists and pedestrians etc in the case of an accident. The bollard tech seems to be completely out of step woth modern vehicle safety standards / designs.
  21. The design has been problematic for decades too:
  22. It's fairly obvious, he wants the council to actually listen to their own constituents and to accept some decisions that they have made have been poor and should be corrected. It's equally obvious that you want to defend this council from any possible criticism, no matter how legitimate, and that you want to silence anyone with a different point of view to you on car ownership / use.
  23. Because these bollards are placed so far into the road with the extended pavements, some (perfectly legal) vehicles can’t drive around them without driving on the wrong side of the road. i guess that is also outrageously dangerous driving.
