  1. Starring in an ad for Lime bikes! https://x.com/limebike/status/1986481659349512472?t=GLBQHUUqp9j55uBoAmaCVA He's come along way from being a Marxist to being the celebrity face of an ad for the $4.5 billion dollar wall street listed capitalist enterprise running lime bikes!
  2. Are they finding it hard to get around in their two tonne metal boxes now then?
  3. Didn't there used to be a phone box here too?
  4. Labour have changed a number of things overnight. 1. VAT on school fees - this has resulted in 25,000 moving until state education. 2. Increasing NICs adding billions to the cost of going to work. 3. Introducing the Employment Rights Bill causing employers to stop hiring. This and item 2 have added 100,000 people to the unemployment scrapheap. These are also causing businesses to relocate further harming the economy. 4. Scrapping all the small boats deterrents meaning 60,000 illegal migrants have arrived in small boats since they were elected. 5. Dishing out huge public sector payroses with no conditions so we have a massively increased payroll and doctors etc arestill going out on strike. 6.changed IHT and non domicile tax rules causing 16,500 millionaires to leave the UK and stop paying any tax here at all forever. 7. Alongside 6, leaving the budget up until an historically late period after the last budget has caused a house price crash, killing the market and decimating government stamp duty receipts. 8. Their profligate borrowing (£100bn extra in just one year) to fund all their lavish promises means the government can now only borrow at the highest ever yields on records. They are more beholden to the bond markets than Liz Truss was. 9. The rate of inflation has doubled under this government. It was a healthy 2% when they came in. For most of the last year, as a result of all of the above it is now nearly 4%. These are all decisions the Labour government took that have immediate cause and effect. Its no good harking back to 15 years ago. The current administration was gifted the fastest growing economy in the G7 and within 15 months they have destroyed it. And things are only going to get worse this winter.
  5. They are a third of the way through their term Earl. It's no good blaming other people anymore. They only have three years left to fix what is now their own mess. And its not just lies in the manifesto. There were lies at the last budget too, when they said that was it, they weren't coming back for more tax and more borrowing. They'd already blamed the increase in NIC taxes on what they claimed was a thorough investigation. They either knew everything then or they lied about that too . They need to stop lying and start behaving. If they don't the next government won't be theirs, it will be led by Nigel Farage. They have to turn it round rapidly. Blaming other people, telling lies and breaking promises isn't going to cut it any more.
  6. Yep. And Pitstop.
  7. They're good lads, and actually I had a repair they don't do and they recommended Pitstop Repairs as their go to for that issue.
  8. Agreed. completely unprofessional and it makes them look more incompetent than they are. No one blames Lammy for the state of the prisons. He's only been in this demoted role for a few weeks following the Angela Rayner sacking. But they do blame him for behaving so terribly badly. It makes it look like he has actually done something wrong and is covering up with angry bluster and needless secrecy. Not fit for purpose.
  9. Do you believe this is actually going to happen?! Demolition was supposed to start in the summer but the Labour government have pulled the plug. Even Labour councillors have had to begin petitioning the government to keep the project alive. https://www.southwarklabour.com/2025/10/03/labour-councillors-launch-petition-for-peckham-rye-station-upgrade/ It's dead in the water surely?
  10. He should be. His behaviour has been appalling. Refusing to comply with a Speaker's request to come back to the HoC and explain himself shows utter contempt to parliament and the electorate. If he had any any integrity he would resign. Nothing to do with the prisoner, but all to do with his arrogance and contempt. This Labour party don't have any integrity at all though. We are two weeks away from the Chancellor of the Exchequer breaking a fundamental manifesto commitment. Breaking promises like demeans the entire contract between voters and MPs. If she doesn't resign for breaking those promises (she won't) then all manifesto promises going forward have to also be treated as lies, not worth the paper they are written on. She should have already resigned herself for the breaking the law over her failure to register as a landlord. They are an absolute disgrace. And whilst all this farce plays out in Downing St where the fuck is the Prime Minister? Nowhere to be seen, unanswerable to the public about this disgraceful shambles.
  11. That's a shame. I tried to take my car there for an a/c issue a couple of times this summer but they seemed to be closed on both occasions so I gave up in the end. Hopefully they'll enjoy their retirement proceeds from selling their site to a property developer! The garage in Upland Road (Pitstop) is good for servicing and repairs. Kwik fit in Grove Vale is also good and they do the diagnostics tests too.
  12. You all have different and conflicting interests though. It isn't necessarily appropriate for him to communicate with all of you at the same time about the same issues. You're giving more away with each post as to how these difficulties probably arose.
  13. Wow, they didn't hang around after getting their licence approved.
  14. Are you sure that they aren't burning permitted fuel in a permitted burner? No one likes a grass.
  15. Well, it didn't wash for Boris Johnson when the other half of his married couple organised a surprise birthday party for him by turning up to a meeting he was due to attend in his own house with a small cake during lockdown.
  16. "There are five on our side, all speaking to each other, and ideally would work as a single point of contact. .... There are five on her late husband's side, who have not engaged with us..." This puts a completely different spin on this sorry tale and might explain most of the difficulty the poor solicitor is having administering this estate. I do note that you avoided my question "Are you and your fellow beneficiaries behaving well? "
  17. Looking forward to updates on this as they roll out the autumn ... rolls and then the winter ones. I'm not a fan of spring rolls myself so will skip that review as and when.
  18. How does an MP on a 75k / yr salary afford a 4 bed detached buy to let house in Dulwich Village in the first place?
  19. It won't have been the Prime Minister or the Mayor of London because they have both jetted off to Brazil to hector us all about so-called climate change. So it may well have been Rachel Reeves.
  20. These are the smokeless fuels you can burn on a open fireplace in Southwark: https://smokecontrol.defra.gov.uk/fuels-php/england/ https://www.southwark.gov.uk/planning-environment-and-building-control/environment/air-quality/reduce-air-pollution/reduce-smoke
  21. The lower / no bang noise fireworks sound great. Is there anywhere local selling those?
  22. What a bunch of ignorant nimbies. Their own tweet conspicuously ignores the actual content of their own article FFS. Immediately after the incorrect paragraph quoted about it being unlawful to burn coal wood etc they sit out the actual position: "However, the use of authorised smokeless fuels in an open fireplace is allowed, as well as burning smoke-generating fuels in an approved stove or burner." leaving that out is as thick as flying into the amazon rainforest on a private jet to attend Cop 31 thus week.
  23. Are there any other executors? Is the solicitor a soke practioner or part of a firm? Are you and your fellow beneficiaries behaving well? You will want to take proper legal advice (which this is not) but you can have an executor removed by the court if they are refusing to communicate with you. I would just do that. Tell him you are doing it, tell him you have reported him to the Law Society (if you have) and tell him you will be challenging his fees with the legal services ombudsman. This all sounds outrageous to me and this solicitor doesn't sound fit to practice. Three years sounds far too long for a low value estate comprising mostly of a house. He should have sold that or rented it out whilst he was waiting to administer the estate. Sounds like he has cost you all a lot of money.
  24. I've actually met Luke Johnson and he's actually a very amicable, witty and extremely clever man. He's also created thousands of jobs and generated millions and millions of pounds of tax revenue for the government, offering goods and hospitality that countless millions of people have enjoyed over the decades. I'm not a fan of Gail's but I'm also not a fan of people who knock down good guys that have contributed a huge amount to this country. Anyway, French Patisseries and southern hemisphere coffee don't belong on Farmer's markets.
  25. Probably will be mandatory once Digital ID comes in. They can then use the cameras on the tills too to bring all sorts of other useful ancillary controls, such as limiting how much alcohol you buy each week, or monitoring and limiting the carbon footprint of the food you buy (some foods now are already showing the CO2 emissions consumed in producing them).
