  1. It's not the only cashless park cafe. The one in Crystal Palace Park is also cashless.
  2. Remember there was a consultation last year to remodel the junction by including traffic island crossings making it safer to cross, especially on Dulwich Common which is dangerous currently with people trying to reach Cox's Walk. No idea when the works will commence.
  3. Virgin is simply oversubscribed here. They won't admit it, but they don't have the capacity in our area.
  4. It makes you wonder just how many people subscribe to Private Eye in ED for the sorting office to get them lost or delivered days later? I was going to buy a sub instead of buying from the shop, but I won't bother now.
  5. ITV News report on the the sentencing.
  6. If you decide to use 306 and find it hard to use stairs, please tell the receptionist and they'll ask the doctor to come downstairs to see you instead.
  7. Poor communication has been a trait of TfL under Khan. The re-routing of Route 40 was also poorly advertised at bus stops.
  8. It means that the only buses serving DKH and Grove Vale are the 42 which is diverted from Goose Green to Camberwell via Peckham and the P13. Grove Lane and Champion Park have no buses at all but are in walking distance from DKH or Denmark Hill. Also no 42 between Goose Green and Camberwell via North Dulwich.

Route 12 starts and terminates at > St Thomas Hospital/County Hall daily between 06:00 > and 23:59." Not from what I saw, buses were blinded for Whitehall on Tuesday.
  10. After the reduction in service on Route 12 recently, since Sunday 11th August until November 9th the service will only operate between Whitehall Horseguards Parade and Dulwich Library only, except between midnight and 6am where it'll run to Oxford Circus. The bus is also on diversion from St Thomas Hospital to Whitehall via Victoria Embankment.

I've had a look and it depends on what time you leave. Forest Hill to Gatwick off-peak is ?6.20, but ?9.90 during the peaks. East Dulwich to Gatwick off-peak is ?7.00 and ?10.40 during the peak. East Croydon to Gatwick off-peak is ?3.20 and ?5.30 during the peak. So during the peaks at least, it may be cheaper to use Oyster to touch in and out at East Croydon and don't touch out during the off-peak.
  12. I'd use Oyster between Forest Hill and East Croydon, then get a single paper ticket for ?5.40. It's a steal!
  13. A few weeks ago I got someone's Private Eye who lives in Melford Road. Seeing as it was so close, I hand delivered it to them.
  14. The same hypocritical black cab drivers who can't stand Uber, Bolt, Kapten and ViaVan, yet they have plenty of private hire drivers who'll drive into and out of ED to the West End. Then they wonder why some of us use cab apps or traditional cab firms instead.
  15. I'd speculate that blood tests and SELDOC would move into the new health centre once the wing is closed.

The London Vehicle finder site shows there are currently 12 Boris Buses, also known as LTs in the trade on the route. The ones labelled MHV, EH or WHV are standard buses. https://lvf.io/#LDN|

It concerns me that with the 176 becoming largely a Boris bus route, that'll also show a decrease in passenger usage with another excuse to cut the frequency even further.
  18. Could do with those on the 176 instead of the hand-me down Boris buses.
  19. Looks like some of those spare 12s are now on the 176 today as every single bus I've been on is those infernal greenhouses.
  20. Private Eye is published on a Tuesday, on sale in Central London and posted that day as well for Wednesday, when the rest of the stockists get them. One of my mag subs was two days late last week, but I get Private Eye from the shop on a Weds.

Indeed, it'll be those who find it hard to change buses due to health issues who'll be forced onto cabs to Guys due to TfL's misjudged decision to reroute the only direct bus route from ED to London Bridge.
  22. Rosetta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What will be alternative ways to get to London > Bridge from the 15 June by bus from ED? 35 from Camberwell Green or change at Elephant for the 35 or 133. The 343 also stops nearby.
  23. So in the last 18 months or so we've had the following changes from TfL. 185 increased to every 8 minutes. P13 increased to every 15 mins. 42 extended from Denmark Hill to East Dulwich Sainsburys via North Dulwich. And then this.... 176 reduced from every 8 minutes to 10. 40 rerouted to Clerkenwell Green missing London Bridge, Monument and Aldgate. 12 reduced to every 7/8 mins It seems for every bus change that is an advantage, they take away with the other.
  24. I was at Bell Green Sainsbury's today where they already have Smart Shop. Used the app on my phone, then you go to the till, scan the QR code which is on the till screen and then pay with your card. I didn't see an option to pay with Google Pay without using NFC, so you need your card or phone to complete payment.
  25. The 40 change is being announced on the Countdown board screens at bus stops.
