  1. And just when I'd got over Leon in 1970, we had the European Championship play-off at Wembley in 1972.

  4. 1970 was a tough one for me too. We'd been to my eldest sister's for tea and were going to watch the game there. But I wanted to be able to concentrate on the game without all that family chatter in the background so walked back and watched the game alone and ultimately in disbelief. I actually believed in the England team in those days and when they sang "Back Home" it meant something. I need my faith restoring tomorrow.
  5. More of Fabio's reactions here.
  6. Maybe they should convert one of the standing areas into a 'buffet' for the sale of a selection of desserts, fast foods and (alcoholic) beverages. But definitely no rhubarb. Or gooseberries.
  7. How can you sell apple crumble without custard? Or at the very least clotted cream. The vendor should be reported to TfL immediately. As for rhubarb, disgusting stuff. The Stalk of the Devil.

    Great Gigs

Hi The National are giving away free tickets for their Roundhouse gig as part of iTunes festival - see below: If you live in London, you may have heard that we'll be playing the Round House as part of the iTunes Festival. They have generously given us 200 tickets to give away, so we thought we'd offer a pair to the first 100 people that write us at [email protected]. Not sure if you need to be on their mailing list or not.

  14. Professional footballers should not be taking the reaction of fans as their inspiration for the next game. They are not that precious that they should but above criticism and I think fans have every right to express their disappointment at a sub-standard performance such as last night's. I cannot understand the idea of blind loyalty, that support of a team should be unconditional. And for the record, I have never booed my own team or left a game early, even though I have been given good cause on many occasions over the years. But I will not always applaud them off the pitch either.
  15. if I'd spent a fortune to be there last night, I'd have wanted the players to turn up too. It looked like a case of the players not wanting to play, which happens from time to time.
  16. You should never HAVE NEED to boo your team.
  17. Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - Elton John
  18. Only people to blame for such a poor performance are the players. Think Rooney should apologise asap.

And the same applies throughout the team.

  22. I kinda think tonight was some kind of cosmic revenge for my enjoyment of the France game last night... A thought that had occurred to me as well.

  25. Maybe England, France, Gemany and Spain could play a mini-tournament if they all fail to get through the group stage (wonders what odds are on that).
