  21. happy bday!
  22. To be absolutely clear on this, I do not feel sympthathy for the paedophile. I feel discomfort about the public execution and crucifixtion and state sanctioned death penalty. I guess what has muddied the waters is that I feel discomfort and not outrage - which I would if this person were to face the same punishment but for a different crime, e.g. stealing. I'm appreciating the interesting and worthwhile debate but PLEASE stop suggesting I feel sympathy for this man or I'm somehow trivialising his crimes, as I'm not. The fact that the crimes are so horrendous means that we are all motivated by emotion (that's hatred and revulsion by the way Mick - not sympathy) as it is impossible not to be - and does that cloud the judgement? I do not agree with the death penalty and feel uncomfortable about the public crucifixtion.
  23. It's the method of punishment that makes me feel 'uncomfortable'. It is not the actual crimes that I'm referring to, the crimes are absolutely abhorrant and despicable - but the issue I was putting forward for discussion was that of the death penalty for criminals together with the public nature and 'crucifixtion' aspect of it. I am not sympathising with a paedophile, please do not infer that from my post. Life should indeed mean life and if it did, maybe that would be the effective deterrent. edited for spelling and clarity.
  24. no, no, noooooo to resident's parking! I love being able to park outside my own house without paying for the privilege and having to go through both the council and royal mail everytime i need a new permit. visitors = nightmare too. I had permits in Merton but still could never get a space outside my house, or even on my road a lot of the time.
