  1. go for it! life's too short for missed opportunities. what's the worst that could happen?
  2. Tim Curry scared the bayjeezus out of me when I watched IT at the age of 11. Apparently he was so creepy on set that no-one would go near him, even the crew. After that, I became a complete scardy cat and can't sit through films like The Others and Sixth Sense without a pillow to hide behind.
  3. It's not just song lyrics neither... *starts over-excitedly sharing too much* Advert jingles, they're the worst. Have been known to sub-consciously sing them out loud when confronted by said product in the supermarket. It's either the power of advertising or one too many late nights in my youth.
  4. Got the 176 yesterday arvo and the bus driver was hideous for the whole journey into town. Running red lights, slamming on the brakes and yelling at people. His finest moment was telling a young woman who momentarily struggled with her pushchair to "go f*** your mother". Has Nigel changed route? Has our feedback made him angrier than ever?
  5. sorry :-$ just making conversation. 6. nope, i do that all the time, too. For example, I find it impossible to update a website without Wayne's World style "Dre-eamweaver" in my head all day. Thought it was just me :-)
  7. I still don't know about this one. I always did intervene and probably still would depending on the situation, but i always beg friends and fmaily not to, as the seemingly-rising level of violence scares me.
  8. Hey Lewishamman, I'd report it - just in case there are vulnerable people involved. The police should have no reason to say who told them, but chat it through with them first. I'm genuinely intrigued by the fact that people guess ages/profiles through posts. Are illusions regularly shattered at the EDF drinks?
  9. After reading the story about the poor woman who had bleach thrown over her, in front of her children, for telling a couple of little kids to be quiet because they were ruining a film, it raises the question of whether to stand up, get involved or just turn a blind eye to things, for fear of repercussions. I remember horrific a story a year or two ago about a man who intercepted theives on his driveway and they killed him there and then, in front of his family. what would you do? I've always been of the mind to stand up/get involved/help people if something happened, but the more I hear, I wonder if that's actually a stupid thing to do.
  10. Does mentioning the word 'clown' get you automatically moved, or was my topic not intellectually weighty enough?! Genuinely asking as new to the forum!
  11. That makes them so terrifying? They're supposed to be fun and enteraining for kids. Is it the makeup? I cannot bear them and they do still feature in my nightmares - but I blame Stephen King for that.

I'll second that! Got caught up in recession-fuelled frugalness after being made redundant and decided to purchase a bottle of Pinot from Threshers as it was considerably less than what i normally spend. I then spent the whole of the next day confined to my bed apart from a few trips to hug the cistern - took me right back to my teenage days! It's definately worth getting a quality bottle over saving a few quid.
  13. thanks folks - my housemate spoke to the school and they are going to oil them on thursday which should hopefully help
  14. There is a metal-scrapey noise coming from either Heber Rd, Crystal Palace Rd or nearby; I hear it all times of the day and it's pretty constant. Because i don't get out much, i have tried to decipher the source and have it nailed down to three possibilities: 1) rusty child's swing, powered by manic child that never gets tired 2) a rusty gate that swings back and forth all day 3) a clothes mangle operated by manic old lady that never gets tired if anyone knows where this noise is coming from i would be most delighted. if no-one else can hear it then i'm checking myself into the priory for a rest.
  15. i did it in 25 blissful traffic-free minutes this morning and arrived smugly at work to be told that the kids have broken up for summer and it is not normally like this! thanks for the info everyone, I'll try some of those routes out. Thanks, Jo
  16. Hi all, I work in wimbledon and was hoping to commute by car as the trains aren't very regular... Does anyone know what the traffic is like between 8-9am on weekdays going via south circular/A24 to south wimbledon, please? I've had sharp intakes of breath at work when i've asked as they've heard it's a nightmare, but to be fair, none of them commute this way. Any advice welcome - particularly useful shortcuts! Cheers.
  17. i've had this, too - trying to get a black cab from victoria and two refused me - one even glared at me, wound up his window and screeched off as soon as I said 'east dulwich'...
  18. Thanks for your posts guys - have to admit i'm none the wiser... What put me off was the bouncer outside on a thursday evening - does a thursday night in ED really warrant a bouncer?! Might give it a go after LL pub crawl tho and play it safe when my friends come down and go somewhere i've been (I had to beg to get them to come anyway as they are highly suspicious of anywhere not on a tube line...)
  19. I've just moved here and have some mates coming over for a sat eve. I want to show off ED and give them a good night - is adventure any good?
  20. Hi, am moving to the area next week and have heard lots of good things in general. I want details though! What are the best things to do/places to drink or shop/restaurants to eat at? Any hidden gems I might not know about? Thanks for any pointers... :-)
