This afternoon I left work early as I am coming down with something. At the 363 bus stop opposite Wood Vale, after the Horniman Triangle, a gang of school teenagers started attacking/watching the attack of a young girl. I waded into the foray to pull the girls apart and in doing so took a punch in the face, but only a girl punch. After a few minutes of a seeping eye I am uninjured but thought people might be able to help me identify the school. The girls were wearing purple and blue tartan skirts... the bus was coming from Crystal Palace direction. Any ideas?

Cator Park in Beckenham have kilts. The older girls wear navy pullovers and the younger ones red jumpers. Not on 363 route but relatively close.

This is their website if you want to have a look. The best pictures of the uniform are in the prospectus.

sydenham girls wear purple and blue....No, Sydenham Girls wear Navy.

There are two Sydenham Girls schools - the private one (Sydenham High) wear lilac shirts and blue skirts (and light blue, grey or navy pullovers depending upon age) Sydenham Girls wear Navy and light blue. Neither wear tartan, as part of the uniform.

    • Typically the way 'family run businesses' operate is either to have family members continue the business, or to sell on, either as a site (in this instance) or as a going concern. Either which way this is the way the owners create a 'pension' from the business. The number of suggestions as to alternatives makes me feel that the market for small repairing garages locally may be well served, so selling on the site makes the best financial sense for the owners. It's a sign not of the times but of normal business realities.
    • I agree it's a shame, but it is not a "sign of the times", unless you think that up to now people have never grown older and retired!
