paco
Does anyone who lives on Henslowe Road have deeds that show which side of the fence you are responsible for. Both my neighbours are saying that I am responsible for the fence separating our properties. :)Simon Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/102064-henslowe-road-title-deeds-with-fence-responsibilities/ Share on other sites
James Barber
Hi paco,This is usually in your deeds and theirs. HM Land Registry maps usually indicate who is responsible for fences. If you have a copy of these I'll happily pop round and look at them with you. intexasatthe moment
You might find that your title plan ( or those of your neighbours on either side ) indicate whose responsibilty it is to maintain the boundary .Title plan is what I think James means when he says map .We were in a similar position and were fortunate that our neighbours title plan did indicate this - " T " marks on the title plan and text reference to northern boundaries on the title register . It's only ?3 per copy .I'd look at these first before you ask for the deeds which are more expensive .?7 a page .https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/102064-henslowe-road-title-deeds-with-fence-responsibilities/#findComment-985874 Share on other sites
James Barber
Thanks ITATM for interpreting my answer. Yet the plan is what I meant. chiccaroline
Until last year I lived on the even numbered side and looking at the house from the road I was responsible for the right hand side. Pugwash
In most cases your responsibility is the right hand side looking at house from road Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/102064-henslowe-road-title-deeds-with-fence-responsibilities/#findComment-986119 Share on other sites
Loz
Both our current property and our previous we were responsible for the left hand side fence, as viewed from the road. KalamityKel
We're the left too. You really need to check this officially as not all roads are the same... edcam
That's right, there is no hard and fast rule. I've lived in properties with responsibility for either. Mrs TP
I googled this recently and there is no law or standard practice as to right or left fence etc but it is something to be agreed with neighbours and then have written into your deeds. paco
Thanks all for your responses, for some reason I didn't get a notification that there had been more replies.I did contact the Land Registry but they don't have that information. I also googled it, and it is down to whoever draws up the plans, so no hard and fast rule. One neighbour did claim that he had the information, but has not as of yet been able to produce said evidence... Lowlander
Our deeds don't show who's responsible for which side (or even back), and neighbour's ones don't either. uncleglen
the house at the end will be responsible for the end fence, then the next house will be responsible for the next fence and so on.... bargee99
All terraces have two ends. Which end are you starting at left or right. It could still be either under this scenario. muffins78
Hi - we had the same problem and our neighbours etc got in touch with other neighbours on the road to see if anyone had any indicator - but no-one had. In the end, we just came to a mutual agreement. So if your neighbours can agree with their neighbours etc., about the responsibility, you'll all be able to take responsibility for one side!! intexasatthe moment
paco - you could always get a copy of your neighbours title plan from the Land Registry to see if what he's saying is correct . It's only a few pounds .
