I'm taking the liberty of bumping this even tho it's still weeks away - simply because there are lot's of new people on the forum lately and it may slip their attention. All welcome !

(but we will be running a book on who will and won't come ;-) )

Hey All,

I had a great time last time. Everyone that I spoke to was really welcoming and friendly.

Unfortunately, I don't really have time to post and chat on the forum too much (I'm not office or home based), is it a faux pas to just come get drunk with you all...? Or will I be shunned into the corner with people giving me disapproving side-glances and talking about me loud enough for me to hear ("I've heard that he lives in SE5", etc.)....?

I'd like to be a fully-functioning member of the ED Beer Forum! :)-D

Cheers

Hi there.... I've not posted too often... but I have been roped into playing Scrabble with Mogs and Co - and love the Magdale Quiz night - so I'd love to come and meet a few more people.... alas there is no Mr AllyCat (so far!) so I'd be turnning up on me todd - but hopefully there might be a few faces I recognise!

Have we exhausted Ed yet? I'm not against the idea of travelling further afield but just making sure we aren't overlooking

Didn't someone mention the FHT as another possibility?

The birthday drinks should be a "grander" occassion methinks

Also - re: this coming Friday at the Plough. If the good weather persists will this be the first al fresco drinkup? Should keep smokers and sunbathers alike happy

    • Look, I can see you feel very strongly about it, but there’s a whole load of people for whom it does not bother one bit.
    • Thanks to everyone who replied in this thread. Genuinely helpful information, observations and thoughts... and helps restore my broader faith in humnanity! Also, my bank just told me someone called them saying they had found my card on Crystal Palace Road. Thank you people of East Dulwich ❤️.
    • still on the look out for your unused / unloved cd collections around all weekend best Tim
    • But that's the point isn't it Mal, if you go to Glastonbury you are with a hundred thousand other people in the wilds of the country and you cannot complain about noise disruption - you can be selective about where you camp of course.  The Glasto organisers and local council go out of their way to keep the locals onside - friends of mine used to live in a village some miles from Worthy Farm and would be offered free tickets. But there are a lot of people in Dulwich and Herne Hill and Brixton who have huge amounts of disruption thrust upon them because this is, after all, a densely populated urban area and not deepest Somerset.  Councils want to monetise our public spaces as much as they can but this is often in conflict with the needs and wants of their constituents who live nearby. What is happening in Brockwell is a warning as Southwark will want to try and monetise Peckham Rye to the same extent if they can.
