Birthday cake for 50 yr old wanted

We want to get a special cake for an artist friend's 50th birthday which as well as tasting good, should look great as well. We want something really original - any suggestions?

Not the cheapest but these cakes taste amazing. They have standard cakes to buy but they'll also create "anything" you ask for!

Yes, second Friddle's cakes. Em baked a cake for my father-in-law's birthday - copy of The Guardian and a mug (all edible!) It made the party! It was also fun commissioning it as well.

I can recommend Sarabration cakes by Sarah Gaskell. She just made a fantastic cake for my sons 6th birthday with a bowling theme. I was very impressed with the decoration and the chocolate cake was delicious too.

After all the recommendations, I asked Em Friddle of Friddle's cakes to design and make our friend's cake and it looks fabulous- she is great to work with, too! I will post photos of it after the event.
