alibo
HiMy 6 vmonth old has had a cold and cough this week which developed to the squits on Thursday. I took him to the hospital and they advised it is just a virus which he probably caught at nursery as this is his first week. The doctor advised to forget food and just give him water and milk.Today he is really happy and back to his old self but sleeping a lot and filled about 10n nappies, they did say it would get worse, I am just wondering if anybody has any advice. My aunty, who has brought up lots of children thinks that milk is not good for diarrhoea, however as he is only 6 vmonths old he has only just started solids and i think he needs the milk to keep him goingIs anybody else experiencing this and got any good advice? Saila
I had a similar bout with my then 10 week old a few weeks agoIt was explained to me (by a baby doctor) that milk was the best thing as it rehydrates. Milk provides both nutrients and water to properly rehydrateIs better than water alone and much much better than solid foodThat explaination seemed logical to meEdit to say: asda have a '3 for ?10' nappy offer at the moment. Their nappies are the best value IMO. Just like pampers at fraction of the cost. Assuming you're using disposablesGood luck with it and hope it gets better. Ours lasted about 3-4 days. alibo
thank you saila for your advice, it is good to get reassurance. You are right the supermarket nappies are as good as the others and half the price. I have an asda near work so will stock up. Polly D
Speak to a chemist because I'm not a health-care professional but you could try Dioralyte for keeping bubs hydrated. I think you can get it over the counter. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10408-baby-unwell-with-diarrhoea/#findComment-306001 Share on other sites
R&A
i'd avoid dioralyte as it contains salt... milk is the best option as their digestive systems are used to milk Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10408-baby-unwell-with-diarrhoea/#findComment-306008 Share on other sites
