True, but England raise their game against better opposition, well sometimes, and even then tend to get noble defeats or creditable draws against the odds. I don't know why we bother really.


Luckily I have the champions elect Spain to follow.

Terry, terrible. Gerrard was Carlton Palmeresque, Rooney static, Lampard anonymous, Lennon pointless.

Johnson started ok bu just got worse, Barry as ok but how often did he try and get things moving only to look around and see everyone shuffling along staring at their feet.

Heskey tried bless him, but seriously, enough already.


Subs were uninspired tactically but we at least improved with each one.


I'm wih quids, change shape, get Cole on and get some bloody ephedrine on Rooney, I think this season has spent him.

My tuppence worth. Play 5 ? 3 ? 2. Get rid of that Rooney guy and then get some proper wingers then stick that lanky streak of piss in the middle up front.

If you watched that game as a total stranger and were picking the team for next time who would you go for?

Back four were adequate I guess.

Lennon no final product.

Gerrard out of position.

Barry OK.

Lampard OK.

Rooney? On today's evidence I'd drop him, looks injured or not interested.

Heskey? Crouch was better as the big man.


Like they were saying on the telly they look haunted, scared, frightened to take a risk in case they made a mistake and ended up.... taking the wrong option and making mistakes.


Tell them Wednesday's team tomorrow or on Sunday, big them up, give them some faith and believe and a boost. Joe Cole on the left, SWP right, Barry screening, Gerrard behind Crouch and Defoe.


I kinda think tonight was some kind of cosmic revenge for my enjoyment of the France game last night...

Carragher's suspended so Upson will be in. I thought Terry was pretty poor and James not great, given that there wasn't that much pressure. Cole was about the best at the back and Johnson got a lucky free kick decision and poor clearance.


Gerrard started playing a bit better when he moved out of where he was mean't to be. Lampard so so. I thought Lennon was ok and Barry faded (not surprising).


Rooney and Heskey shite.

I normally really like Lennon but it just wasn't happening. When SWP came on I tuttted. The missus asked why as she likes him, and I said he's alright but generally against poor opposition. Took me a moment to realise that's what we were playing. Someone really should have mentioned that to the players.


As for Heskey, pretty much. He does have a work rate plays his role well, which sadly, for a striker, doesn't actualy involve scoring. Did anyone see his house on WAG Come Dine With Me the other day, the porno tele that rose up in purple velour?

Score 3 goals in 50 odd games I believe, although in general I'd probably still pick him. Even though I didn't a couple of posts up.

And this really is the problem. Heskey is still the first choice for England managers because of the lack of competition. And the same applies throughout the team.

I hate to see like for like substitutions, they very rarely make something happen. Trouble is the bench is a bit lacking in alternatives. Crouch for Heskey, SWP for Lennon, etc. Can't help think Adam Johnson should have gone to be an alternative, we have no left footed forwards.


Joe Cole needs to play, and Capello needs to tell them to attack attack attack.

I swear I saw Rooney looking at the touchline with about 15 mins to go as if to say" get me off". Something looked very wrong from the off, almost like there had been a barney in the dressing room.

Boooooooooooooo!!!!! Couldn't hear it myself, but if our fans were doing that last night, then I don't blame Rooney at all. Don't get these moronic idiots who don't get behind their team when they're on the pitch.


Wasn't a great performance last night. No one looked like they wanted the ball in case they cocked up. Half blame this nation's wonderful tabloid press. One cock up and you're hung out to dry. Shame that Carragher got booked as he was probably the only one who gave 100% and looked like he cared.

I don't think there was booing during the match, the fans were trying to lift the team. As far as I'm concerned, the booing after the match was deserved. What an absolute load of shite!


Not just a bad day at the office, something was very wrong about that team last night.

      I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK.       If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it was a little further down the road towards LL, probably where the Fresh Flower Company is today. I'd forgotten all about it, with good reason. I think it disappeared before Blue Mountain opened and became a pizza place? I once bought a carton of milk from the deli and when I opened it, it was solid. I did get my money back though.

      But when was it posted?! I haven't posted any this year. I can't bring myself to pay the exorbitant cost of the stamps, and at least I can sort of honestly blame it on illness. If I can't hand deliver them, I send e-cards. I know it's not the same, but it's very much easier. And as for the people who still send pages of closely handwritten letters .... very admirable in terms of the hours it must have taken them to write them,  but they remind me of those spoofs eg x has just passed all their many important exams with the highest marks possible, y has just walked round the world in a week, z has just become the first person ever to be knighted twice, we are about to fly off for our fifteenth exotic holiday this year ....... Or else (or sometimes and) they are full of who has had what illnesses and accidents and other catastrophes. Is this just my relatives and distant friends? Am I somehow attracting these reams of handwritten paper?
