peckham_ryu
The problem is the alternative: the gym. Often the one near work. Where your boss also works out. It's that whole ugly prospect that got me into cycling to work instead. No danger of being quizzed on Q3 results while towelling off in front of board members in various stages of undress. *shudder* Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106924-jogging-commuters/page/2/#findComment-999212 Share on other sites
Parkdrive
I don't believe I said that exercise was bad for you, I said that running on concrete or tarmac, and taking in toxic fumes whilst breathing heavily as a result of vigorous exercise isn't good for the body. I didn't say exercise in general was bad for you. Both Jah and I expressed opinions contrary to others posted on here and got exactly the kind of response I should have expected Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106924-jogging-commuters/page/2/#findComment-999237 Share on other sites
taper
Indeed you should have expected it, because it's bollocks. But happy to be persuaded otherwise. taper
Article here too is useful. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/aug/05/air-pollution-should-stop-you-exercising Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106924-jogging-commuters/page/2/#findComment-999333 Share on other sites
JennieH
I'm hoping to start soon - but I have to sort out a route that stays away from traffic first! Seabag
So I've got 885 minutes per day before the effect of cycling in the London air starts to kill meBasically I'm more likely to get flattened by a skip lorry, than choke to death. And at that time of day I'm usually found enjoying a tincture of laudanum and a cheroot on the verandah.May I recommend it Mr. Healey, it takes the sting out of an early start Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106924-jogging-commuters/page/2/#findComment-999473 Share on other sites
