I didn't know that there was a Peckham Rye Festival last weekend - I think there is probably some useful feedback in that fact alone! (and I have been in previous years).

I will caveat that I had been on holiday in the week lead up and I rarely look at the whats on pages on this forum anymore. I did however know about the west Dulwich and Dulwich fairs last Saturday and Sunday and I'm generally 'the one in the know' within my social group for local stuff (I'm observant and read stuff!). I live in SE15 but near to East Dulwich Station and increasingly split my time 50/50 in ED and Peckham.

Sorry to have missed it.

Cedges/Pickle, it wasn't in the park, it was a music festival in the bars and venues around Peckham.

TBH in many ways it was like a normal Saturday night in Peckham, with places like the Bussey, Canavans, Four Quarters, etc, all pretty busy. The main difference was that you got a wristband allowing you into all the different venues.

I assume the OP is asking from a policing point of view... but not sure I have a lot to add, it all felt friendly, good-natured and safe to me. But I bailed out shortly after 2am, so couldn't comment on anything that may have happened after that...

Me neither. Electronic music is - generally speaking - not my bag. But it seemed like a good excuse for a night out. And I like the concept of wandering between different venues and seeing what's going on.

I went and loved it! Could deffo have done with a bit more PR though... Went to Bussey, Canavans, White Horse (that was pants though), then back to Bussey... had to get back for babysitter around 2.30am, but really liked it, good vibes, good mix of people, great music. Deffo room for expansion next year!

Good to find nice feedback on Peckham Rye Music Festival here Pilsbury.. It's something my partner is heavily involved with.

Peckham Rye music Festival is happening again this year (2017) taking part in some of the same venues around Peckham as well as a few new ones. It's now in an expanded format - spread over two consecutive weekends ( with a week of community focused fringe events happening in between. I will be there with our baby in his ear defenders!

No, that was this:

Saturday 18 March‪: Southwark Presents Spring Waking

6pm ? 7.15pm. Start from East Dulwich Community Centre. As winter turns into spring and darkness turns into light, we celebrate a time of change and transformation. Spring Waking, commissioned by Southwark Council, is a new dazzling event for East Dulwich. Emergency Exit Arts and Output Arts are very excited to be creating this outdoor show with support through GfA. Spring Waking will feature a community procession led by a giant illuminated butterfly and moth and a fantastic light-filled finale show with a specially composed song cycle from singer and musician, Bishi. To join the parade with your own personalised butterfly or moth please check the Emergency Exit Arts website for details of public workshops www.eea.org.uk www.outputarts.com

(From arounddulwich.co.uk)

didn't hear or see anything about that. Would have come along.

Can someone please tell Southwark Council to invest the money in more community spirited events like this (and notices for it - I'd happily have printed many off!) rather than new lamp posts.

What is the method of communications so we don't miss anything else?

A lot of local schools were the involved so I guess the adults were mostly parents. There were a couple of open workshops at a local church and community centre too, so I guess only a narrow section of the neighbourhood would have seen the flyers. It was lovely so I feel sorry that some missed it.

    • Hi, I am from the Southwark Day Centre and could collect some apples if I am. It too late... Bettina
    • Labour's latest Rye Lane Ward newsletter is now saying that demolition in the square will start this summer and that the wider station upgrade is expected to be signed off this year - as explained above, sadly wrong on both counts. It describes the renovation of adjacent buildings on Blenheim Grove as "successful", despite having lain empty for a couple of years, longer than the actual renovation works, before saying "the Council is hopeful [it] will see its first new occupants move in to this year". Cue desperate attempt to get at least one in before end of financial year? As for the other topic, in "November 2023, faced with a huge increase in graffiti across the borough, Labour-run Southwark council took action". Nice turn of phrase eh? Rather, after community pressure regarding years of inaction by said Labour-run council, it's finally started to do a little bit, a little late. Surely there would be more chance of resolving issues if our council could for once be part of an honest, informed discussion?
    • I don’t think anyone has mentioned Peckham FoodCycle yet, they might enjoy some apples! https://foodcycle.org.uk/location/foodcycle-peckham-saturdays/
    • Just wanted to recommend Roger from Critter Solutions Pest Control if anyone’s dealing with mice or other unwanted guests. We had a sudden issue with mice in our home's kitchen and after calling around, these guys were by far the most responsive and professional. Roger arrived on time, was really friendly, and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He did a full inspection and sealed up some access points we hadn’t even noticed. Since his treatment we haven’t seen or heard anything since. What I appreciated most was that it didn’t feel like a rushed job or a hard sell – just honest advice and thorough work. All backed with a guarantee.  Would definitely use them again (hopefully won’t need to!) and thought I’d share in case anyone local is looking.
