Reception staff at MGMP are terrible and you never get to see a DR. You get a nurse practitioner whom i personally don't mind because they are very good and nice. Opening hours are misleading in the website as they open at 8.30 and I think close early I always have to take time off work for an appointment. Disadvantage of the nurse practitioners is that they make phone appointments as well (not while dealing with you though) therefore are even busier. I am generally not satisfied with their services especially since I have a small child.
Busy? Are you sure? Whenever myself or partner pop in to make an appointment (there really is no point trying to call as no one ever picks up or when they do they always come up with some excuse of the phones not working) there is no one in there - patients or staff! AND you still have to wait an incredibly long time to be seen even then.

The Gardens - Dr Fryer and Dr.Tran seen regularly,my other half sees Dr. Cliffe. The 2 nurses at the surgery are brilliant.

It took us almost 2 years to get registerd with The Gardens after our old GP died and we did not like the other partner at the practice who started writing the prescription before you opened your mouth!

Forest Hill Road Surgery is terrible. At least we had not a very good experience. The reception book you with the nurse even if you ask for a doctor appointment. And that Ilana nurse... she is something else, I had an ear infection and I work on the phones all day long, she didn't want to sign me off even though I couldn't hear a thing from that ear, saying that maybe one ear didn't work but I had another ear that I could use...

I had several bad experiences with DMC, the fact that I am not British they always made it difficult for me to get an appointment and only one (1) illness can be discussed with the doctor. Though I've been asking them for an extension (in person coz its either they never answer their phone or its always busy from 8am-9am so I just have to waste my time to go there) they never gave me but when my Brit bf phoned them in my behalf, they instantly gave the extension same as with the time I asked. Moreso, I have noticed that if the doctor is not white, they talked to me warmly and I could discuss my illness with them calmly. But if they are white, they talk to me quickly and in less than 5 minutes. They never even gave a solution to my illness and told me to wait for another schedule although I was already in pain. Only few white doctor/nurse treated me nicely there.

Now I am in search of a new GP surgery which also opens on saturdays. I missed my old GP at Earls Court when I used to live there. Such a shame that East Dulwich doesnt have a clinic with good staffs and good Doctors like at Earls Court (near the tube stn). Until such time that I havent found a gp clinic suited for me, I will still have my check ups with them but if they dont treat me equally again, the "people in-charge" will deal with them accordingly.

I'm sorry, but this medical centres' doctors at terrible! I just found this post on here as I am desperately looking for another doctor myself. I feel compelled to warn anyone who is considering this surgery. I'm afraid I have to be honest and blunt here, there is no room for being PC when your health is at risk: 2 of the receptionists get peeved off when you stand at the desk waiting for them to respond to you as this means their conversations that they are clearly having with their friends or family on NHS phones are interrupted. Shocking!! However, one of the receptionists is lovely I have to say, I can't remember here name, unfortunately! Dr Surma's English is so bad you cannot understand half of what he says, he just mumbles away for 5 minutes whilst dealing with other patients' cases, and answering the phone during your consultation. And as for Dr Marks, he just nods and say "Yes" constantly. I could be saying anything to him and he'd just agree, then he blurts out a load of unrelated rubbish whilst dealing with other patients' enquires and answering the phone. Rude and useless! I've put up with this for 4 years as I've never had any serious illnesses, but now I am desperate for some serious medical attention and need a doctor who shall listen to me, and not waste the NHS's funds by recommending pointless hospital appointments which frustrate the many specialists I have been referred to as they have to tell me, to tell the doctors, what I actually need; then they just ignore me again; and then, send me to another pointless appointment, wasting yet again more of the NHS's funds, and my time!

For your own sake - stay away!!

I've been with the DMC since it opened and the doctors are great. But I wouldn't recommend it if you are unwell because it is hellish to see one.....try phoning up in the morning...i did this morning and rang every minute for 1.5 hours.....no appointments today (third day on the in a row this has happened and the only available appointment is over two weeks away. Receptionist suggested I visit a walk in clinic which I did at work but they could not treat me with blood pressure of 97 and recommended I see my doctor right away. It's impossible!!!! Round and round!!!

Just wondering if anyone can give an up to date view of doctor's surgeries in the se22/se21 area. We have been at DMC for years but recently we've been really struggling to book appointments. Am thinking we may need to change. Can anyone recommend a good practice locally?

Thank you

Would second Dr Doha at lordship lane surgery. Administration wise- sometimes things are left to be desired with the practice. He is excellent though- really listens and takes his time. On the occasions I've seen other doctors in the practice I've also been impressed.

    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
