Oops! Didn't mean it mischievously. For once...

Can I put my hand up and admit to being totally hypocritical on the gentrification subject? i.e. I always rant on about the bl**dy Claphamites etc. but equally would never be seen dead in one of the old men's boozers that used to dominate Lordship Lane. And I get excited at the idea of posh new shops and bars despite myself.

They are advertising for waiting staff in the window of a new coffee shop currently being kitted out on Lordship Lane.

I was tempted to apply to get the undercover scoop, but couldn't be bothered. I did peek inside though. It looked exactly like .... a new coffee shop. Must be very near to opening now.

    • They are. We are back to the same construction racket 8am-8pm every day for the whole of this week. The wall is one of the last things to come down, probably on Saturday. • It is intimidating looking through the book sections now.  I sometimes wonder if they're stocking bookshops' remainders. OTOH, when I put  some books out in a cardboard box for taking, it was  encouraging to see that a fair proportion of those taken were aged hardbacks.
