First Train from ED to London Bridge

Just wondered if anyone has experience of the first morning train from ED to LB? I have tried to get early morning trains before and they have often been cancelled - is this one reliable?

Have to get to Gatwick for 7am Weds!

Have you considered going from Forest Hill to East Croydon and catching a train from there?

I really want the journey to be as easy as possible as I am travelling with a toddler. Also, we live next to ED station.

I get the first train from North Dulwich in the morning to London Bridge and it arrives at 6:10 (arriving at ED at 6:12). It's pretty reliable but I think it probably won't be early enough for you if you've got to be at Gatwick for 7am. As with the previous poster I've got the train from Forest Hill via East Croydon in the past when having to get to Gatwick early.

6:12 from East Dulwich to London Bridge. 6:42 from London Bridge to Gatwick, arrives 7:11.

Or:

6:32 from East Dulwich to East Croydon. 7:03 from East Croydon to Gatwick, arrives 7:18.

I really must get back to work...

Apparently taking the first train can get you to Gatwick at 7:11... so maybe it will work out OK.

However, I'd have a minicab number handy just in case!

I used to catch the train from East Dulwich, but recently switch to Peckham Rye - twice as many trains and numerous busses drop you right outside the station (I use the 12, which is perfect).

Thanks - as long as it is reeliable then we will be ok. Check in opens at 7:30.

Have been waiting for an early train before though and it was cancelled - called a taxi but they could not get us anywhere near Gatwick cos of traffic - nightmare - want to avois this scenario with toddler in tow!

Now how about getting a cab to east croydon then catching the 6.36 direct to gatwick in 16 minutes ...gets you in at 6.51am

And can you check in online in the 24 hours before the flight? Could save some time

If you can get to clapham junction (37 bus) the brighton trains via gatwick start around 4 AM.

Not with a toddler and 3 suitcases! ;)

If that first train is running then I am fine. It seems that people are saying it normally runs so.....
