I usually vote in person but applied for a postal vote for the referendum in late May as I'll be away on the day. The deadline was 8 June so well within it.

My normal polling card came through about a week later. A colleague at work (non-Southwark) has had her postal vote through although she always gets a postal one so not sure if they do two runs of polling cards/postal votes - previously registered and then new ones.

Anyone else who recently applied for a postal vote in Southwark had it arrive yet?

Got home today to find my postal vote on the mat.

However - it's good to know that in future, it's best to get your request in very early so you get it more than a couple of weeks ahead just in case you are away for a fortnight over the election.

I'm voting in, and fyi - my form has arrived

A good friend of mine came up with a great idea. If you don't have the time/inclination to find out all the facts about the EU referendum (I don't blame you) and are possibly unsure which way to vote, perhaps knowing how other notable people are thinking could help out.

Here are a few that strongly believe the UK should remain a member of the EU:

? Governor of the Bank of England

? International Monetary Fund

? Institute for Fiscal Studies

? Confederation of British Industry

? Leaders/heads of state of every single other member of the EU

? President of the United States of America

? Eight former US Treasury Secretaries

? President of China

? Prime Minister of India

? Prime Minister of Canada

? Prime Minister of Australia

? Prime Minister of Japan

? Prime Minister of New Zealand

? The chief executives of most of the top 100 companies in the UK including Marks and Spencer, BT, Asda, Vodafone, Virgin, IBM, BMW etc.

? Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of the United Nations

? All living former Prime Ministers of the UK (from both parties)

? Virtually all reputable and recognised economists

? The Prime Minister of the UK

? The leader of the Labour Party

? The Leader of the Liberal Democrats

? The Leader of the Green Party

? The Leader of the Scottish National Party

? The leader of Plaid Cymru

? Leader of Sinn Fein

? Martin Lewis, that money saving dude off the telly

? The Secretary General of the TUC

? Unison

? National Union of Students

? National Union of Farmers

? Stephen Hawking

? Chief Executive of the NHS

? 300 of the most prominent international historians

? Director of Europol

? David Anderson QC, Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation

? Former Directors of GCHQ

? Secretary General of Nato

? Church of England

? Church in Scotland

? Church in Wales

? Friends of the Earth

? Greenpeace

? Director General of the World Trade Organisation

? WWF

? World Bank

? OECD

Here are pretty much the only notable people who think we should leave the EU:

? Boris Johnson, who probably doesn?t really care either way, but knows he?ll become Prime Minister if the country votes to leave

? A former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions who carried out a brutal regime of cuts to benefits and essential support for the poorest in society as well as the disabled and sick

? The guy who was Education Secretary and every single teacher in the country hated with a furious passion for the damage he was doing to the education system

? Leader of UKIP

? BNP

? Britain First

? Donald Trump

? Keith Chegwin

? David Icke

So, as I said, if you can?t be bothered to look into the real facts and implications of all this in/out stuff, just pick the list that you most trust and vote that way. It really couldn?t be more simple.

And if you are unsure about leaving, don't.

Please repost this list, if you think it might help.

Theboycj, that is very helpful. Seeing how much longer the list of untrustworthy self interested (and occasionally currupt) people there ar in favour of remain compare to the very short list of of rogues on the other side has persuaded me to vote out.

proxy appointment deadline passed I am afraid Abe! My daughters postal vote arrived but not mine, despite posted to them at the same time. I am due to go to Glastonbury on Wednesday, but to fulfil my democratic obligation (which I have rather banged on about recently!) I will have to vote at 7am and then go.

If mine didn't arrive, what happened to it? and how many other people did this happen to?

    • Don't know why but it seems like there have been impromptu fireworks since early September. At one point I even wondered if there was a shooting range or something like that over Dulwich Hamlet way- the direction where the firework sounds seem to be coming from? Is there some kind of new, fireworks craze going on and where are people getting them, out of season?
    • Hello, I have your cat!!! I can't find a contact number but mine is 07845 277923.
    • Hi everyone, thanks so much for taking the time to come back on my thread - hearing all your responses has been very helpful.    I’ve tried some of the suggestions you shared about how to improve the connection but they don’t seem to make too much difference so I think we are probably in a dead spot unfortunately. I’ll keep trying though and hopefully it will get a bit better.    Coincidently, I found out yesterday that BT fibre broadband is coming to East Dulwich soon which should much improve the WiFi signal available in the area so I’m planning to switch to that as soon as it arrives. Fingers crossed! If you’re interested to hear how it is, feel free to message me and I can let you know.    Thanks again for all your help!
    • If you want to self cater and do it yourself, why not try one of the rooms in a church..  one I am thinking about has a huge room with kitchen and toilets… parking on site.. and another one worth considering is the church near Dulwich Library , top of Barry Road..  pm if you want more info and of course.. all the pubs on Lordship Lane. if you want further afield, Rosendale Pub has rooms above bar area that you can also hire…  Alleyns Head also good - section off a section of the pub for  your sole use and parking on site.. although, might not work if try want to dance and play there own music. Kingwood House might also be worth considering…
