Keef, I think you've damned it with the faintest of praise, whether intentional or not, and I think you're correct, though not for continuing to watch it.

If I was watching it and someone came in and waggled a Sunday supplement couple of pages with sunglasses porn at me, I'd be away from the telly and snuffling towards the pictures of RayBans, like a RayBan sort of hound.

Anyway, all thoughts of Luther would be expunged.

A Littlewoods catalogue would suffice as well.

I saw this last night at my friend's house. What a waste of a brilliant cast. Idris whatsisname is PURE CLASS. Psycho girl with the lovely red hair was the Donmar's Stella in Streetcar last year and she was faultless. They were all good. Shame that the plot is so improbable.

One thing has stuck in my mind though and I'm probably doing the wrong thing raising it here as I will probably be dragging the thread right down; but here goes. Luther asks a question of his sidekick: have you ever actualised a sexual fantasy and was it as good in reality as the the fantasy in your head? That got my full attention because, er, I've asked myself that question too. I've come to the conclusion that fantasies should stay in your head. Anyone think otherwise?

I have to sigh, Impetuous, and reckon in my estimation, that you likely as not haven't had wild fantasies type sex and loads of 'sessions'. Hardly anyone does.

Any encounter becomes a big deal. Likely as not it was a one night stand. Or a series of them. That's good. Or good enough.

Most of the time people have to put up with these things.

Still.

So Luther's wandering round with a non-police issue gun? Assumed his was a cop gun, but maybe not.

HOWEVER, he was in the cafe with witnesses at the time of death (and the call the wife made to his phone would have seemed a bit odd if he was actually in the room with her shooting her, no?) Also (I've clearly watched too much CSI) isn't there some kind of gun powder residue on you when you've fired a gun, of which he would have none.

I know you love him Vrouw, and you know that I do too. But HOLES.

But then he wouldn't have an excuse to run from the old bill and cause general mayhem, then what kind of storyline would we have?

BTW I was on about the white dodgy cop with the dodgy non-police issue gun, not Luther - Luther used a bible to bash the bad guy!

    • Hi everyone, I'm Gen, a catsitter based in Sydenham - if you're away this summer and need some care for your pets, please do consider me!  I can typically cover Sydenham, Forest Hill, Penge, Anerley, Crystal Palace, East Dulwich and parts of Peckham. If it's outside those areas, it still might be worth messaging me to see if I can help. I'm registered with Cat in a Flat, with flawless reviews – I'm happy to accept clients through there, or just directly (you can just DM me on the forum here) - whichever you're more comfortable with. I've been catsitting for a few years, and also used to volunteer for Celia Hammond. Here's my profile https://catinaflat.co.uk/pet-sitter/377081 Ping me a message if you need help or have any questions!
    • And we humans bear a lot of responsibility for creating the conditions that brought foxes into urban settings. I certainly don't regard them as pests - they are noisy little criminals, but I'm very fond of them (we have huge numbers of them in my area - I rescued a lost baby fox earlier this year). However, there are pest control companies that use humane methods to deter them and redirect them to different territories (a friend of mine works for one, but sadly for OP, I don't think this is in their catchment area).
    • Please don't call them "pests". They are animals who have as much right to be here as we do. Which doesn't mean we can't use humane ways to keep them off our crops, like fruit cages and netting.
