Is anyone else feeling anxious/uncertain/nervous/trepidatious/concerned about the vote today, one way or the other?

I am seriously considering two Kalms or maybe find the brandy I know is in the cupboard under the sink at the back in the corner.

Which is pitiful really when I see the pictures of cars submerged, polling stations closed through flooding and trains cancelled and people wading through fords to vote.

And I had only to walk 2 mins on damp pavement. I have enjoyed the debates, thank you, mostly reasoned arguments, passionately put, all thought provoking, some erudite, some not so much, all courteous, a credit to the Forum.

I have 'You can't always get what you want' in my head, and have to believe the truth of the following line,

but if you try sometime,

you just might find,

you get what you need...

'And I went down to the demonstration

To get my fair share of abuse

Singing, "We're gonna vent our frustration

If we don't we're gonna blow a 50-amp fuse"'

and

'I saw (her) today at the reception

In (her) glass was a bleeding man

(She) was practiced at the art of deception

Well I could tell by (her) blood-stained hands'

Jah Lush, I swear it was deliberately provocative, in order to draw you out... I watched the clip thank you, the wonderful Madeline Kahn, well all of them, what a romp.

Of course there is nothing preventing You from discussing it ?!

Should I take it that you are not anxious, merely miffed disappointed yet equable? I will be drinking alone at this rate.

I'm too chilled out to suffer anxiety attacks. I'm not anxious, miffed or disappointed either. The film's great. Very funny. Not seen it in years. I lent the copy I had on tape to someone years ago and never got it back. I won't now coz he's dead. That's totally chilled out. I'm merely moribund.

Yes, I could murder a pint... and several more too.

remember the steel fronted Chelsea Drug Store, the Bach Choir and Madeline Bell singing backing,

I suppose you know it

was Delia Smith baked (and decorated) the cake?!

Mr Jimmy was the guy playing the drums?

Very underrated grape. Argentinian Malbec is especially good - and cheap!

hello Louisa, how are you holding up? yes it's heady, in this humid weather, but what the hell,

Cheers !!

God, are people planning to stay up until the results are in? I wasn't planning to but it seems like everyone I know is.

Still at work so don't feel anxious yet. Our projects in part depend on the vote so its a pretty chilled out day as we are all just waiting to see which of two courses we take starting tomorrow towards the rest of the year.

You sure your not confusing being self-medicated with being chilled out as your analysts might say.....if you had one

Unfortunately, I'm almost completely straight these days. Can't afford the Persians anymore since I stopped working.

Many years ago I spoke with a trick cyclist and he chucked a snooker ball at me and asked me to 'peel it.' I chucked it back at him and said 'you peel and I'll eat it.' So that went well.

hello Alice, I think perhaps we were meant to? but Hendrix lived in Mayfair on Brook Street, in a house formerly occupied by Handel. So I am not sure that if he was ill he would be standing in line in Chelsea, it's a bit of a bus ride, even allowing for artistic licence,

but Steveo would know this.

Where is he when you need him?

How on earth did you find this? it's really interesting. I thought at first it was tenuous, but there is no reason why it cannot be true? thanks.

Alice inspired me - realised I've listened to and played that song a thousand times but never really thought about who Mr.J might be!

Blimey! That's news to me, never heard about that guy and I consider myself an expert on the Stones. Still, it does say at the end of that wiki piece "The veracity of these claims is disputed. "Mr. Jimmy" more likely refers to Rolling Stones producer Jimmy Miller." So I reckon I'm correct.

    • Big recommendation for Stephen Viccary who has created a magnificent bathroom for us. Quality of work is absolutely top notch. We couldn't be happier - see pics.  Stephen is considerate and tidy meaning working from home during the work was fine (some noise - obviously, it is a demo and installation after all. He does not work on multiple jobs, does a full days work and does ALL the work himself - Tiling, plumbing, lighting (including lighting on a motion sensor under the vanity and in the shower niche - for night time visits 😉), he even changed the door architraves, sorted the badly cracked ceiling and did all the paint work. A full end to end service. Stephen's number - 07941 266 145
    • Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening.  When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next.  Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden.  We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space.  Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together.  I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
