Gimme
Are you mad? Of course they are all numpties. Why in gods name would anyone become a traffic warden unless they were totally unable to do anything else? They must by definition be numpties (although they could be masochists I suppose...).You could almost feel sorry for them having to do this sordid little job but they are trained to make things as unpleasant as possible for their victims as they possibly can so you can't but hate them. There's a statistic that 80% of serial killers worked as traffic wardens at some point before they were finally caught.Huguenot Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I'm also guessing that it's impossible to> characterise all wardens as numpties. OutOfFocus
Putting aside the "numptiness" of the parking employees for a moment, it does seem that blocking a bus lane to prevent people from driving in a bus lane is a illogical activity. Medicine worse than the disease etc. James Barber - could you raise this matter with the appropriate authorities. ianr
In Jul-Dec 2009 there were only 2 appeals against Southwark bus lane infringement decisions, as compared with 742 for London overall. I'm wondering whether this indicates that Southwark made few such decisions, or whether they were seen as indisputable. I suspect it's the former, and wonder what the figures will be for this half-year. Is this camera car a fairly new arrival? ruffers
I've been done for a bus lane once - I did it, fair cop, and there was a very clear photo to prove it. I didn't bother appealing. Gimme
Interesting reply from Southwark Council re the OP's photograph of their driver parking in a ridiculous spot:"This matter has been taken seriously. They will surely get the message sooner or later if Southwark treat every outrageous breach of road safety with the same rigour as this. northlondoner
I wonder what the position would be if we passed offending photos of dangerous parking to the police? Any lawyers out there? Comus
Is this another example of Parking Enforcement not playing by the rules? At Nunhead Cemetery Open Day today the enforcement guy was handing out tickets left right and centre on Linden Grove while he is clearly parked adjacent to a dropped kerb ? as these photos show. Not quite as dramatic as parked on a double yellow line, but he would have no doubt issued a ticket to any car parked like he was. (The incident is not specifically East Dulwich, but relevant to the thread, I believe.) RosieH
Numpties??? Why would anyone want this job? I don't know, maybe to put a roof over their heads, food on their table and clothes on their backs? Snobbery of the worst kind. You don't want a parking ticket, don't park where you're not supposed to. Don't blame it on the guys enforcing the rules that you've broken, and oh my god don't start looking down your nose at them.So some of them aren't doing their job perfectly. Are you all? northlondoner
Don't park where you're not "meant" to? How charmingly naive. Or is that sanctimonious? In case you hadn't noticed the 'rules' as they are enforced around London are often entirely arbitrary and in some cases deliberately vague and confusing. And this image of the enforcement officer as the valiant downtrodden dispenser of parking justice is a bit rich-especially when so many tickets are thrown out on appeal. It's not surprising that folks get irate when the traffic wardens breach the laws they are suposedly there to enforce. Ok, so it's not right to look down one's nose at them, but they clearly need reining in. lala24
just had *incident* with parking official on scooter issuing ticket to a delivery van outside our house on Goodrich Road. We were obviously loading a piece of furniture into the van which couldn't park next to the kerb because of all the rubbish piled outside the house next door which is being renovated...van was parked in the middle of the road for approx 3 mins whilst we loaded a chest of drawers in. Scooter man pulls up, jumps off, pulls out his camera, makes a note and whizzes off! DJKillaQueen
I'd definitely appeal that one....and complain about the complete lack of common sense of the issuing warden. What does the ticket say the actual offence is? ruffers
Appeal what? Was a ticket definitely issued? "Writing a note" isn't issuing a ticket, there's no mention of it being given or attached to a vehicle. If I misunderstood anything then fair enough. blackadder
Parking warden has almost certainly issued a PCN and then discarded it.I presume he has got his camera out to take photos to cover himself.Hopefully the delivery company has proof of delivery/collection invoiceto cover themselves when the inevitable Notice to Owner arrives. Nicholas
I agree, he's about a metre from the kerb, on a double yellow line, on a bend. And did anyone else notice the huge dent in the left front bumper. Maybe someone didn't like getting a ticket and took it out on the car? Or maybe this is why he parks so far away from the kerb, because he keeps hitting things?
