Peckhamgatecrasher
Cool. What happened at the end of Feb 2009 to produce such a spike? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11385-some-graphs-showing-forum-traffic/#findComment-325174 Share on other sites
Mark
I think there was a highly publicised stabbing in Peckham, and for some strange reason if you search google for street gangs in london we used to come first but now we're about 10th. silverfox
I notice April 2009 has been omitted from the dates along the bottom. That was when Sean and I had our first lover's tiff.Is this deliberate? I think we should be told. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11385-some-graphs-showing-forum-traffic/#findComment-325210 Share on other sites
Mark
Yes, the traffic peaked (because everyone switched from Eastenders to the Silver Fox/Sean MacGabhann Love Tiff on the forum) and it skewed the results so it was omitted. ????
So, to a degree, suggests that the Lounge, uniquely, is on the slide.... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11385-some-graphs-showing-forum-traffic/#findComment-325272 Share on other sites

Huguenot
I don't know whether the Lounge is on the slide or not - I don't think that's right in 'real' terms.I'm surprised it kept its end up - until the split all the family discussion stuff and drawing room stuff went in the lounge.Since these two added together are half of Lounge's overall traffic, I'd have expected to see the Lounge halve in size if it didn't attract new and growing audiences. So for me the Lounge 'plateau' actually represents a doubling in size! Keef
Cheers Mark.Is it possible to see how an individual user (me) posts. I'd be interested to see how much I post now, compared to a year or 2 ago! Same for Mockney. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11385-some-graphs-showing-forum-traffic/#findComment-325430 Share on other sites
Mark
Very valid point Huguenot, you can see the Lounge traffic dip in July last year when the other rooms were created.Sorry Keef, the stats come from Google Analytics which measures general website traffic it can't work out individual's actions from the forum's database. Unspecifically I can tell you though that your posts have gone from 'a lot' to 'not as many'. mockney piers
He's sleeping right now and I'm reading a very good book...happy joy. Mind you, boiler's on the blink, anyone know a good plumber, I can't see the wood for the 'recommended' trees in the business section. A 60-day simple moving average should be applied after zero values are removed from the time series (e.g. the first chart). The second chart looks like an IPCC data manipulation 'trick' was applied to produce an EDF version of the ?hockey stick graph? :)Interesting post nevertheless - thanks. Huguenot
I don't think in general 60 days averages should remove zero values - but it should in this case as it was 'suspension' not audience activity that caused it.But either way HAL, I've made the mental leap to remove the suspension from the graph and I'm not paying attention to the apparent rise in the last two month average data. It's clear that activity remanined fairly consistent across the last 6 months, which means that activity must have increased on non family and non Drawing Room material to compensate for the appearance of those sections. That's why I'm saying the Lounge is even more successful now than it was in the past.Mind you, all these graphs feel a bit like looking in the loo after you've done a whoopsie ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11385-some-graphs-showing-forum-traffic/#findComment-326117 Share on other sites
Mark
ok, big apologies but I missed out the last 128 days on the previous version of this graph (it only went up to 1000 rows before). Here it is:[edited] to add: I've attached the file if anyone wants to play with it and make something up.
