Mick Mac
What does this mean in hospital terminology? My wife was rushed into operating theatre and the consultant announced a code blue. It seemed very serious. She is fine now, of course. After the op we looked at her notes and they rolled on as usual and then stopped with the words: "CODE BLUE". HAL9000
Code Blue means an adult medical emergency in general or specifically the need for immediate resuscitation, for example, in the event of cardiac arrest. zephyr
I am sure you know the specific meaning now. In my hospital (obviously not MY hospital) we have code blue and code red. Code blue is for Massive obstetric haemorrhage (bleeding after childbirth of 2litres or more). the main trust have code red which is massive haemorrahge (not obstetric). In effect, as already said it just signifies an emergency Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11421-code-bluenhs/#findComment-326158 Share on other sites

Peckhamgatecrasher
Blimey - there are only 10 pints in the human body and 5l is 8.7 pints! So glad she is ok now, that must have been very scarey for you.
