They were cordial to me, if a bit nervous and reserved, but had only white paper for photocopying, a little outdated

in my opine! Still, I was most happy to go to a local place and not be forced into chain-store 'options' where policy and profit prevails and service is almost non-existent. Seems these folks may be happy to move on from their shop daze- Best of Luck, Health, and Happiness, So Long! Gee, I hope we get another kitchen shop in its place- har-de-har har!! Could use some practical amenities in the 'hood, such as stationery- or is it become obsolete?

there was a thread on the forum about Ralon some time ago... there were dozens of post about people's dreadful experiences in the shop.. not with the staff but with the owner... I have often found him so rude and unhelpful (not only to customers but also to his staff) that I sworn will never enter the shop again... but as people have mentioned, it is useful to be able to pop in (rather than buy the odd small thing online). All the other people who work in our studio have similar horror stories about him... shop will be missed... he will not be missed (by many).

He was unusual. A man with standards. And the formalities of a bygone generation. I had a good chat with him once about macro economics and modern capitalist greed. Swiftly followed by one about the potential effect of my wet umbrella on 320 gram card stock.

He shall be missed.

I always found the owner perfectly friendly and helpful, as did my partner.

So was everyone else who worked there, in my experience.

    • Hello - If anybody has any hifi valve amplifiers, working or in need of restoration, I'm keen to buy such things from you! I particularly like amps from the 50s and 60s, the sort of thing you used to find in old sideboards, but ultimately anything with glass tubes sticking out of them is of interest to me. I am also in the market for good quality hifi items in general, particularly faulty items in need of fixing and restoration. This includes turntables, amplifiers, cd players, speakers, graphic EQs, cassette players, reel to reel players, etc. etc. Ultimately, all electronic musical objects are of intrigue to me. Many thanks, and hope to hear from you soon, -Scott 07956 853 538
    • Using the smart CCTV cameras is your best strategy - particularly if they have adequate infra-red capability. Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday. If you need any help, please drop me a PM. S7.mp4
    • Not in Ed, but I was in NE England over the weekend and saw an otter in the wild! Never seen one before, it was quite lovely.
