Nigello
There is at least one of the (likely very) many No 12 new Routemasters that have had windows retrofitted on both decks but only on the pavement-facing side. They slide open on the inside so keep the flush look of the original design. Cue complaints of "it's too draughty" as soon as mid-August is out.... titch juicy
Now, if they'd just put in some comfy seats with a bit of leg room, get rid of one of the staircases and back doors, redesign downstairs to make more room and work on the suspension (like the previous perfectly comfortable, spacious and well designed incarnation), we'll have decent buses again. craigyboy71
Finally!!!! Although this came too late for our week's Summer. The cooling system on these new buses is appalling, so it really needed doing. Nigello
Actually, there are windows on both sides on the upper deck. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/117145-se22-buses-get-a-revamp/#findComment-1030382 Share on other sites
edcam
Amen to that! The a/c is appalling, it just blasts warm air. These are the most uncomfortable buses I've ever been on. craigyboy71 Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Finally!!!! Although this came too late for our> week's Summer. Bic Basher
They could just bring back the old buses or is that too simplistic? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/117145-se22-buses-get-a-revamp/#findComment-1030472 Share on other sites

jim_the_chin
The smell on these buses is awful, I'm guessing that was due to no windows / flow of air? Rancid. And sod the windows on the 12 - when are we going to get replacements for the 176? I know of no other local route that runs buses that are 13 years old. We'll have bus-spotters riding them soon for their vintage value. Nigello
The N176s (or perhaps it is without the "N" because it is a 24-hr service) at night are much more modern and quieter (not that they could be any louder) but I think they are run at night because of their better CCTV. It is a shame because the 176s are old workhorses that should be put out to pasture sooner rather than later. Do you remember the ones with the slatted, wooden floors and ingrained grime? It was like TfL meets Peaky Blinders. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/117145-se22-buses-get-a-revamp/#findComment-1030790 Share on other sites

Buses used during the day have been converted to meet emissions standards, but still sound like Concorde.
