School Trousers (any trousers actually) and what to do with holes in knees

Recommended Posts

My son goes through pairs and pairs of jogging bottoms and jeans because he plays on his knees.

Apart from patching does anyone have a solution to this? Is there some kind of strengthening insert yiuo can attach from the inside.

School trousers are going to last about 5 seconds. What on earth do I do!!

my nephew wear shorts year round but thats because they get too hot for trousers, so its a good shout.

i have a pile of trousers ready for turning into shorts. i patched a load but they just rip around the edge of the patches. i tried just sending him in, in ripped trousers but he fell over and grazed his knees through the rips. sigh.

the kids in my family just seem to have bony knees. we don't get the problem so badly with joggers but apparently joggers are not acceptable as uniform.

My boys are in shorts until October half term and back in again at Easter. For the winter I buy relatively expensive school trousers for them from a proper school uniform shop - they are much thicker and harder wearing than the supermarket/even m&s versions. Or alternatively loads of cheap pairs I suppose!

For home they tend to wear jeans - way harder wearing than joggers which are always instantly wrecked apart from the thicker boden type ones....

Thats brilliant - once again the EDF comes to the rescue.

So I went to sainsburys and had a look - I might certainly go that route (just need to check whether the colour matches the official uniform at HTGFS)

But I also might go the posh route - where do you buy the good ones snowboarder?

Shorts are good option for us - I reckon he'll be in them for a while, if we go on the warmer autumns we've been having. Annoyingly the school uniform side doesn't seem to be selling them- will try calling to see...

And yes - MIdivydale - SOOOOO many things I've not got round to doing. Feel a bit overwhelmed by it all!!

(btw - have you sorted out after school stuff - I haven't yet, but I'd be interested to know what your plans are...no idea what I'm going to do.He can't start the CCC club until he's 5 - JUNE 2017!! Argh!)

Was at BHS Lewisham today. If you can get there by 185 and P4 buses they had lots of kids school uniform on sale at 70% off. Lots of trousers/skirts in every colour, white tops, shirts, cardigans in all colours. All really good quality and starting from reception age. Couldn't believe how cheap they were.

I get these shorts - they are lined and therefore a bit warmer so last longer into October!

I get the school trousers from the school uniform supplier for the school they are at (annoying 'charcoal' grey colour rarely available elsewhere!) but expect trutext, John Lewis or look at the ?10plus pairs in a local independent uniform shop - there's one near ED station isn't there? - would be good.

I managed with 3 pairs per child for winter last year....

Good luck!

    • Can someone please explain who "one Dulwich" are?
    • We are actually referred to as "Supporters"...2,100 of us across Dulwich...read and weep! 😉   https://www.onedulwich.uk/supporters   Got it, the one where 64% of respondents in the consultation area said they wanted the measures "returned to their original state". Is that the one you claim had a yes/no response question?   Well I suggest you read up on it as it is an important part of the story of utter mismangement by the councils and this is why so many of us can't work out who is pulling the council's strings on this one because surely you can agree that if the emergency services were knocking on your door for months and months telling you the blocks in the roads were delayihg response times and putting lives at risk you'd do something about it? Pretty negligent not to do so don't you think - if I was a councillor it would not sit well with me?   Careful it could be a Mrs, Miss or Mx One.....   Of course you don't that's because you have strong opinions but hate being asked for detail to.back-up those opinions (especially when it doesn't serve their narrative) and exposes the flaws in your arguments! 😉  As so many of the pro-LTN lobby find to their cost the devil is always in the detail.....
    • Really?  I'm sorry to hear that. What did you order?
