Just wanted to give a huge vote of thanks, a couple of frisky cheek kisses, a fraternal high five and one great big bear hug to Those-who-set-up-this-here-Forum.


Been too much ill-feeling on here of late; it is clouding things a little.


The Forum has given me, for one:


The brilliance of Ted Max

The wit of Honaloochi

Knockabout Limericks with Tilly

Countless interesting debates

A Bucketful of Laughs

Suggestions for films to watch and music to listen to

The pure indulgence of the Quiet Room (it started with a cough...)

and..

The genius that is *Bob*


And on top of that it's given me plenty of great night's out in the pub with people like Sean, Moos, David, Jah, Keef, Michael P et al who I met through this place. A virtual community that's become a real community.

Yup I seccond that...where else would i find so many ladies prepared to play footy having never played before.....I could be the next Alex Ferguson!


But seriously...this is great forum and that anyone gives up their free time to keep it going means we are all indebted.

Agreed, agreed, agreed.


I have made many forum buddies on here, but even more special to me are those close friends who have enriched my life to such an extent now that I cannot imagine what it would be like without them. Had it not been for this forum I doubt we would have met.


Then there are the practical things like discovering a good oven repairer, finding someone to give my bike its MOT, which surgery to sign up to (and which to avoid), tips on how to solve my problematic front door or my leaky shed, what to buy my nephews for their birthdays and Christmas. And then there has been the stuff that I have sold, the kind PMs when life hasn't been kind, instructions on how to produce my own pectin, recipes for chocolate brownies, Irish soda bread and a tasty mackerel dish.


Then there are the jokes, the laughs, the witty banter, the taking the piss - oh pure joy. Also the 100s game, the word game, and the various competitions.


Not forgetting the Forum Priest, the Forum Ladies' Football Club Manager, the ED SNUB Lady, the Forum Computer Specialists, and the EDF Youtube Experts. What more can I say. Well lots actually, but you might get bored.


So thank you Mark and the Team, with all my heart. xxx

Many thanks to the OP for the compliment.

I accept in the usual shruggingly-diffedent-aw-shucks kind of fashion that I accept any compliment.


But yes, this is a good place to visit and I always look out for certain posters and enjoy what they do.

I won't be specific and name names, lest I be accused of favouritism, but if I may apply subtle code.


A woman who sounds like a right cow, but is actually a baa lamb and is funnier than Mrs Pike out of Dad's Army.

A fellow who may live in the vicinity of Maxted Rd and brings the same sort of off-kilter world view that we all appreciate by Corporal Jones out of Dad's Army.

An apparently South African-Irish fellow who I reckon wears a hat at as rakish an angle as Private Walker out of Dad's Army.

A concert-going female who I reckon may take the same interest in shoes as the good Mrs Fox out of Dad's Army.

A living rock legend named poster who blurts out his truth like Private Pike out of Dad's Army.

A *nod* of the head that always seems to channel the spirit of Private Frazier out of Dad's Army.


Hey mofo, it's a Home Guard thing, you wouldn't understand.

Mark set this up a couple or three years ago and I must say it is one subscription I don't mind paying for!


I can have a good laugh, a moan at the politicians, find a plumber, buy some cheap dvd's or make new friends.


I feel it is a real asset to the neighbourhood and worth every penny of my twenty five quid,


and if you hadn't noticed I'm right careful with my dough.

      Most churches rent out halls for children's' parties but rarely adult parties, Christ Church only does afternoon parties,   The East Dulwich Community centre hires out halls to 9 pm only and all music needs to be on a sound restrictor as is in a residential area. St Johns with St Clements have a small hall but not sure if they allow adult parties. Nunhead Green has a newish community centre with a couple of different size halls. Most places seem to charge around £40 ph  with a deposit of £100/200 (returned if no damage or excess cleaning needed.

      Hello, Recently there have been various comments made on the forum which have resulted in heated discussions being had. I for one, hold up my hand and wanted to personally thank whoever is keeping the forum going.. remember when it was likely to close. We are all adults and should known when it is right to continue or just ignore or if really feel it necessary comment via pm. I have had a long relationship with the forum and have bought, sold, offered advice and in deed made friends on the forum over the years. It is a public forum after all and everyone is entitled to express their opinion and is also free. I am not as tech minded as most but with the season of good will approaching and-knowing in this economic climate how many people are  struggling, I  thought it would be a lovely idea, to perhaps set up a just giving page to raise funds for a local charity who might appreciate a contribution towards their Christmas festivities… On a practical side, might just be to complicated to administer as I am sure all have charities that we support so my other thought was not me, as I am useless but to set up a just giving page and whatever monies are raised, perhaps contribute to the festivities that use to be run by local shops or whatever.. Maybe even use a local church hall and just make it special for perhaps folk that find it difficult to access events or no access for say wheel chair users.. guess really, one is looking for guidance from the church and of course volunteers. Shoot me down if you must or feel the need but this is my view and no, sadly I won’t be around in the months before Christmas but can help remotely.
