the thing is Jah Lush that we have become so conditioned and de-sensitized to guns and their presence in our society, that something like this happens and people take no notice. Guns should not be part of any society unless you live up in the Glens/Dales and hunt for a living. There have been loads of hold ups recently and people?s responses have generally been "oh well". No, sorry, it's wrong.

obviously it's wrong and the response has been to call the police whose job it is to deal with criminals - what else do you want people to do?

Well, I'm certainly not saying "oh well". I think its f**king outrageous. No way have I become de-sensitized to it. Too many cowardly little shits walking around with guns and knives thinking they're some sorta big gangsta bwoy stabbing up and killing each other. Stop the violence.

and anyone who can use phil collins as an inspiration for a song like Uzi Lover definitely knows what they're talking about

it's because robbers don't actually walk in places shouting "everyone get down this is a robbery, move and I'll shoot your face off", they walk up to the counter and quietly say something like "give me all your money, act calmly and don't act raise the alarm because I have a gun". No-one else in the shop will know.

Where is the deterrent for kids carrying guns?

You know what I think they should do - Bring back National service for these young offenders!

And if these bad bwoys want to go shooting people up - then send them out to Iraq or Afganistan and let them shoot away on the front lines to their hearts content....and know what its like to be shot back at by a real enemy who isn't scared to 'dis 'em!

    • Thanks to everyone who replied in this thread. Genuinely helpful information, observations and thoughts... and helps restore my broader faith in humnanity! Also, my bank just told me someone called them saying they had found my card on Crystal Palace Road. Thank you people of East Dulwich ❤️.
    • still on the look out for your unused / unloved cd collections around all weekend best Tim
    • But that's the point isn't it Mal, if you go to Glastonbury you are with a hundred thousand other people in the wilds of the country and you cannot complain about noise disruption - you can be selective about where you camp of course.  The Glasto organisers and local council go out of their way to keep the locals onside - friends of mine used to live in a village some miles from Worthy Farm and would be offered free tickets. But there are a lot of people in Dulwich and Herne Hill and Brixton who have huge amounts of disruption thrust upon them because this is, after all, a densely populated urban area and not deepest Somerset.  Councils want to monetise our public spaces as much as they can but this is often in conflict with the needs and wants of their constituents who live nearby. What is happening in Brockwell is a warning as Southwark will want to try and monetise Peckham Rye to the same extent if they can.
    • It is a fact that the festival has been expanded once, both in size and timescale. Attending the free day will be spun as support for not only this but even further expansion and embolden Southwark to launch more events and we could end up like Brockwell.
