With one bound they are free !!!

Big cheer from all us East Dulwich Leeds fans- 6th win in a row tonight. Best goal difference in *ahem* Div 1.

Marching on together.........

David_C/East Dulwich Angst- fancy the Millwall fixture in April????

PS. R.I.P. Ian Porterfield but I am sick to death of THAT goal!!!!

Yes well done Leeds! keep it up

Ian Porterfield managed Sheffield United for a couple of seasons, tkaing them up 2 divisions. Then when it did not look like he was going to get them promoted instantly to the top level in one season the Board sacked him....Who'd be a manager?!

What is this man on? (?) One minute its melons, the next omelettes....

"The style of how we play is very important. But it is omelettes and eggs. No eggs - no omelettes! It depends on the quality of the eggs. In the supermarket you have class one, two or class three eggs and some are more expensive than others and some give you better omelettes. So when the class one eggs are in Waitrose and you cannot go there, you have a problem."

Jose Mourinho is desperate for Chelsea to scramble a win from somewhere. ::o

This is eggs-actly why I think this bloke is a prize wally! :-S

I laughed during the pre season when all of those silly reporters were once again pulling predictions out of their backsides.

One prediction in particulaar was the "Spurs will finish above Arsenal" line.

I am an Arsenal fan and I quite like Martin Jol but you could also see that Spurs didn't have the necessary players in midfield or defence for the so called experts to come out with such unfounded rubbish.

It is easier when you make up your own mind instead of listening to reporters who really hink Rio Ferdinand is a world class player (he couldn't lace Thuram's boots).

I agree with you Fonson and I'm a Spurs fan. Certainly with all the injuries we had at the beginnning of the season it was always going to be tough for Spurs to make a good start and all the speculation in the press added even more pressure onto Martin Jol. Then the board go and shoot themselves in the foot with their approach to Seville's Juande Ramos and it doesn't look good for Jol's future prospects and adds more pressure onto his shoulders. But, we had a poor start last season too and were in the same position we were this time last year and still ended up fifth.

As for Ferdinand. I've mentioned it before on this thread he's got to be the most over rated centre-half in recent memory. He makes far too many mistakes. Once Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King are back to full fitness I think they'll be some real healthy competition for his place in England's back four.

Jah Lush, I have watched England on a regular basis since about 1978 when I was 9 years young and it is always the press who seem to pick the England team. People wonder why we didn't qualify for the world cups in '74 and '78.......I know why....We had people like Mick Channon and Mick Mills playing for us whilst others had the likes of Gerd Muller, Johann Cruijff and Michel Platini playing for them. Ferdinand will sadly keep his place.

The press complain about Mclaren but it is they who demanded an English manager and we bloody well got one!!

Yes Gerrard and Lampard should work but it doesn't, be bold and drop Lamps!

We complain about too many foreign players in the pemier league but they have raised our standards. This is probably the best bunch of English players I have known in my time.

How can we expect the great Wenger to buy British when people are asking 30 Million for the likes of Rio.

Look at the Ashley Cole situation....We sell him to Chelsea and get 5 Million plus Gallas and clichey ( a better player) gets his chance.

Do you remember our old FA head of coaching....."Brazil have got it all wrong"......Let's crack on and get it wrong like them.

God help us!!

Agree that Rio will keep his place. I know I may be a biased Liverpool fan, but Rio should have lost his place to a much more reliable (if not quite as "exciting" Carragher! Woodgate is a great player, but can't stay fit, King may have the same curse as Carragher in that he's viewed as versatile, so will never stamp a claim on his obvious best position... He is a good player though, and oh how spurs have missed him!

RE Lamps, yes yes yes drop him!

And a quick word for poor Heskey, I would have LOVED him to have kept his place above Rooney just for one game! Rooney needs to be dropped once, then he might get over himself, get his head down, and be the player we could be if he wasn't such a knob!

    • Hey Sue, I was wrong - I don't think it would just be for foreign tourists. So yeah I assume that, if someone lives in Lewisham and wants to say the night in southwark, they'd pay a levy.  The hotels wouldn't need to vet anyone's address or passports - the levy is automatically added on top of the bill by every hotel / BnB / hostel and passed on to Southwark. So basically, you're paying an extra two quid a night, or whatever, to stay in this borough.  It's a great way to drive footfall... to the other London boroughs.  https://www.ukpropertyaccountants.co.uk/uk-tourist-tax-exploring-the-rise-of-visitor-levies-and-foreign-property-charges/
    • Pretty much, Sue, yeah. It's the perennial, knotty problem of imposing a tax and balancing that with the cost of collecting it.  The famous one was the dog licence - I think it was 37 1/2 pence when it was abolished, but the revenue didn't' come close to covering the administration costs. As much I'd love to have a Stasi patrolling the South Bank, looking for mullet haircuts, unshaven armpits, overly expressive hand movements and red Kicker shoes, I'm afraid your modern Continental is almost indistinguishable from your modern Londoner. That's Schengen for you. So you couldn't justify it from an ROI point of view, really. This scheme seems a pretty good idea, overall. It's not perfect, but it's cheap to implement and takes some tax burden off Southwark residents.   'The Man' has got wise to this. It's got bad juju now. If you're looking to rinse medium to large amounts of small denomination notes, there are far better ways. Please drop me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this matter further.   Kind Regards  Dave
    • "What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???" Why is it perceived, Reeves is responsible for doubling the "black hole" to £20b through the public sector pay increases. You can't live beyond your means and when you try you go bankrupt pdq. In 4 yrs time if this Govt survives that long and the country doesn't go bust before then, in 2029 I dread to think the state the country will be in.  At least Sunak and co had inflation back to 2% with unemployment being stable and not rising.
    • He seemed to me to be fully immersed in the Jeremy Corbyn ethos of the Labour Party. I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
