Newcastle were woeful yesterday, we played well, but I was expecting a real match, and they just rolled over.

I am seriously worried about this Benitez situation. I know the press make mountans out of mole hills, but he was quite outspoken after the match, and I would hate him to go. And I don't want him replaced by a certain former Chelsea boss!!!

Have been thinking about this Keef (as you did miss the best 25-30 mins of the game). ;-)

Our passing was immense - yes we weren't playing Barca or AC Milan, but in that game NUFC didn't know their arse from their elbow, because of the way we played. I do wonder if sometimes, when we obliterate other teams like that, the focus comes away from us playing well to the other team being shite. If it were one of the other two "big" teams that play in red in the prem, I think that the comments would be different.

I have just the read the following in todays Times in the column title "The Debate", which sums perfectly my feelings as to why coaching and development of youngsters in English football requires a radical changes at grass roots level.

"Slaven Bilic, the Croatia coach, was happy to let England's central defenders have the ball at Wembley because he thought they could not pass. That is a direct reslut of playing on pitches that are too big at an early age, which promotes little technical ability beyond the big punt upfield"

These are sentiments I've expressed many times in this thread in recent weeks. I hope that someone of influence, within the English game sits up and takes note and actually does something to reverse this trend!!!

Disappointed Spurs didn't come away with all three points at Upton Park yesterday and I bet Hammers supporters (step forward Mr Mockney Piers) were laughing like drains when Jermaine Defoe missed the penalty in the last minute.

Right! The England manager? Gotta be Fabio Capello hasn't it?

I don't know that laughing is quite the word. We comfortably controlled first half and just disappeared for all but the last 7 or 8 minutes of the second half. When he won the penalty a the last gasp it was a case of "thrown away three points again!!".

Mediocre penalty and great save gave rise to a few flicked birds and the EDT filled with noise of f.o.defoe.y.c.

Relief at a point saved at the end frankly.

Wasn't a pretty game to watch but it was sure as hell an exciting one!

Hmm..I thought we were all over West Ham in the first 20 minutes until that dodgy penalty decision against Keane. It was only when the hapless Younis Kaboul made that dreadful error that led to the first goal that West Ham gained a bit of confidence. I thought about watching it in the EDT but settled for the CPT instead. Only one Hammers supporter in there yesterday but he made enough noise all the same, especially once Defoe came on.

Actually fair enough, Mrs mockney got all does my bum look big in this when getting ready, causing me to miss first 20 minutes. Took her about 6 hours to apologise.

Bums should not get in the way of footie!!

... so to speak.

They all seemed to be down the EDT; it's normally just me and the weathered looking bloke, so no idea where all the others came from.

The dodgiest decision of the weekend was the disallowed goal by Kenny Miller who was a yard onside, lobbed Cudicini from about 22 yards and had it ruled offside. That's just typical of the luck that CSKA Fulham seem to get. Myopic linesmen eh?? What can you do with 'em??

BSA is in a funny old position

His employer has gone na dhe doesnt know whats going on with his new boss

he has a squad of relatively new PL players & the inherited rubbish like Owen / taylor / etc etc etc

hes barely 6 months into the job and it would be sad to ctitisise what is going on

NUFC have not had any consistancy since Robson was undermioned and shamefully ejected

One side of me knows hes an efficient thoughful manager and needs a couple of years to make his mark

the other side wants him out and propelled into the England job - as a Scot, this is just What England need!

But basically, he needs time & support & I dont think Ashley will give him that - BSa wasnt a popular appointment, but 6 months in, We should b consolidating, not chopping & changing
