My dad is BA Baracus with Bruce Lee's Nunchuckas!

Some people can't afford to go and watch their team very much, but that doesn't make them any less a loyal fan!

A good friend of mine who is from from Liverpool has been living in Leeds for a long long time, and I don't know if she's ever been to Anfield, but she is still one of the most passionate fans I know.

I haven't been to Anfield in several years now, which is terrible, but mainly down to cash and travel. I still love my team though.

I think the point is being missed here. I have no respect for people who come from say Portsmouth, and support the like od Man Ure. I met such a person on holiday and couldn't believe it whne he told me that he was born and raised in Pompey but supported the mancs. What a spanner. I took great delight in telling him how I felt when we got on to the subject of who we supported.

Well I am a spanner, because I was born in South London, and I support Liverpool, whereas I should have supported Millwall, Palace or Charlton... I would have included Arsenal, but it's been a while since they were a south London team.

Like I said before though, I got in to the game late, and I decided on my team because I liked their play, and their players, which I think is a fair enough reason for chosing a team. It had nothing to do with glory, because at that time, they wern't exactly winning anything.

My best friend is also from South London, and also supports Liverpool, because when he was little, his whole family were (and still are) Chelsea, and he wanted a different team, so he chose a red team rather than Chelsea blue, it's as simple as that!

There is no reason why a person should support a particular team, the only rule should be that they stick with that team through good times and bad, and NEVER EVER change their team.

Why did the Arsenal fans chose Arsenal? Is Sean a spanner because he supported the Gunners from Ireland? (sorry Sean, just making a point).

I have to say, I am not looking forward to the weekend ???? the Hammers are a bit of a bogey side recently.

Keef, Charlton wear red...it 'just' made sense for your friend to choose Liverpool randomly as a team who wear red.

Sorry, 'newbies', fans who support teams because they were born their or its in their families blood are a class above random team supporters who happen to pick one of the obvious ones..I just can't take your support seriously, irrational maybe, but the view of most poeople who support a team through birth not choice...

No problem keef. . If its any help i also support cork city in that particular country

as for arsenal. . Well (with apologies to those who have heard me say it before) as arsenal at the time were effectively irish that was why i latched on to them. Some great players but not a great footballing team

???? he was about 4, and probably chose Liverpool because he'd never heard of Charlton.

Had I taken on my family team, I too would be Arsenal. The fact is it bored me to death as a little kid, I just wasn't interested. By the time I got in to it, Arsenal were doing rather well, so I guess I could have just started supporting them and told everyone they were my family team and I'd been Arsenal since birth.

Sorry ???? but I know a lot of scousers who would tell you they were Liverpool supporters, but who probably could name a player other than Gerrard, how does their "birthright" make them more of a fan than me, who follows with passion, and gets really up or down about results?

If it makes you feel any better, I have been to watch Charlton many times in the past few years, because I couldn't afford the fares to Anfield, and I wanted to watch footy... And Charlton have been my second team for a long long time (since I really fancied a girl who was Charlton mad at school)... Like I say, many different reasons, all valid so long as your support is true.

Blah blah blah, real fans, rattles, woodbines, folded up newspapers for shinpads by 'eck

What a load of b@llocks

Back to important things - the Chamionship promotion/play-off race. Will Watford continue to lose to crap sides? Yes! Will Palace inexplicably fail to beat Burnley? Yes! Will Ipswich trounce Hull, sail through the play-offs, repeat their "miracle first season in the premier league european qualification followed by disastrous second season ignominious relegation amidst vicious in-fighting" Here's hoping.

Whatever happens, will Warnock continue to be the most annoying football related w@nker on earth? Certainly

I could live with that prognosis as long as Wolves fail to win and Sheffield United win too. We tend to do well against Ipswich in the playoffs :)) But if United miss the boat then I hope Colin makes it with Palace - who could possibly want to miss the Palace/Liverpool fixtures next season?!

P.S. Ipswich v Hull is live on Sky....

What about fans who downsize - you know get a bit pissed off with all the cynicism of the Premiership so you go from supporting the likes of Man U to a local non-league club like Dulwich Hamlet. I'd say hats off to anyone who does that. I think the loyalty-at-any-cost, simply on the grounds that you were brought up in a certain town or your family supported a certain team, is a bit suspect. Rather like following a religion.

I can't say I've completely downsized, but I do enjoy the Hamlets, especially as Premiership is SUCH a rip-off these days.

Have also frequented Broadhall Way for many years, and had a penchant for Stoke at uni at the end of their Victoria Ground days.

Can never stop loving the Hammers though, and may go a bit more often when I haven't got a wedding/honeymoon to pay for.

    • I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?

    • If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it was a little further down the road towards LL, probably where the Fresh Flower Company is today. I'd forgotten all about it, with good reason. I think it disappeared before Blue Mountain opened and became a pizza place? I once bought a carton of milk from the deli and when I opened it, it was solid. I did get my money back though.
    • But when was it posted?! I haven't posted any this year. I can't bring myself to pay the exorbitant cost of the stamps, and at least I can sort of honestly blame it on illness. If I can't hand deliver them, I send e-cards. I know it's not the same, but it's very much easier. And as for the people who still send pages of closely handwritten letters .... very admirable in terms of the hours it must have taken them to write them,  but they remind me of those spoofs eg x has just passed all their many important exams with the highest marks possible, y has just walked round the world in a week, z has just become the first person ever to be knighted twice, we are about to fly off for our fifteenth exotic holiday this year ....... Or else (or sometimes and) they are full of who has had what illnesses and accidents and other catastrophes. Is this just my relatives and distant friends? Am I somehow attracting these reams of handwritten paper?
